League A10 Basketball: news and discourse around the league

I'd kick out the bum ass bottom feeders that are bad and have always been bad. Without naming them everyone already knows who they are in the a10.

It ain't that hard.
genuine question. who is that in ur opinion? now that fordham is good i think every team has been good since weve joined. gw and duquesne to a lesser extent although the dukes are turning it on.

Fordham
LaSalle
Duquesne

Fordham having one good year does not make up for the million bad ones they've had.

These teams schedule like low majors, recruit like low majors, and then perform like low majors (except once or twice a year in conference where they'll get a miracle win against dayton or vcu and sink the conferences chances of getting more than the autobid.)

Why not let them go be low majors?

lasalle can go. we kick out fordham or duquesne then our conference is losing two top 6 teams. i could see the argument for umass or richmond.

My preferred solution would be to have minimum investment and scheduling requirements, and let the problem sort itself out. In the long term, schools that are “good” without those minimums won’t be for long

Fordham and Duq are potential top six teams THIS year, but what about next year? Fordham builds itself up, then drops back down when it loses players and/or coaches. Their facilities are old and not very good, and I don't think anyone REALLY wants to be there. The minute Urgo leaves, they're back down to the bottom of the league.

Personally, I would say start with LaSalle and UMass. UMass doesn't want to be in the league anyhow.

I would love to see an analysis of what every a-10 school spends on every sport they operate and the number of scholarships they award by each sport
would be exceptionally eye opening and maybe shame some of the laggards to catch up and compete financially or MOVE ON if they lack the commitment to catch up
every Email I send to A10 front office asking financial questions Goes Unanswered (something as simple as explain a10 basketball policies on distribution of NCAA basketball tournament money)

go rams

I would also add UMass. Since Calipari left in 1996, UMass has had more losing seasons (14) than winning seasons (11). They have also had a losing record in the A-10 10 out of the last 15 years.

I always love this debate. So, if we kick them out, who becomes the bottoms dwellers that we will want to kick out next? Will you be happy with a league that can beat VCU all the time and then maybe VCU becomes the bottom dweller? Or maybe we have a league where everyone goes 9-9. All leagues have teams that are perpetually poor. Let's face it, if we lose to any team in the A-10 maybe except for Dayton, it hurts any chances of a bid. We are faced with having to be the best house in a poor neighborhood every year. Tearing down a few of those bungalows will not help elevate us. At our level we cannot have a league full of VCU's/Dayton's.

Yes, that is exactly how the power conferences do it. They have teams that go 10-8 in conference and still get 8 and 9 seeds or better because even their bottom dwellers challenge themselves OOC.

It's all an academic debate anyway because no matter what solution is presented, realistic or theoretical, there's absolutely no way that Bernadette will do anything but try to add another former cinderella to the conference
