Last night was a good night for the A10, 9-2. LaSalle and fur being the only teams to poop their beds. Most impressive win was a 24 point beat down the Fightin’ Lil’ Fauntleroys handed the USC Gamecocks.

Actually, LaSalle losing to Temple helps VCU. Temple has a much better chance of being rated higher in the NET than LaSalle, and Temple is an away game for VCU. VCU only plays LaSalle once and it is a home game for VCU.

The flip side however is a lower NET ranking for LaSalle affects the metrics of opposition for ALL of VCU's other 17 A-10 games (+ confeence tournament) as every league member plays the Explorers at least once.

LaSalle's NET ranking is going to be low with or without a win against Temple. They are a bottom tier team in the A-10.

did a bit of a deep dive, the average kenpom rank of a10 teams at this point of the season is 132. last year it finished at 134 with a lot more disparity between the top and bottom. don't know what conclusion to take from this, but thought it was interesting that were relatively the same quality of league despite a much better bottom half.

fordham down 46 spots in the net after lost to davidson. davidson up 35
Road wins and double digit wins are big even with teams out of the top 100. VCU is really gonna need to smack La Salle on Saturday and beat Duquesne at Cooper Fieldhouse and get out of Pittsburgh with a win. The Duquesne game worries me. They thrive off of scattered play and turn teams over. Physical team.

We need Dayton to play well. They moved up to #80 in the NET, and with some luck they might reach the top 75 and give us a Q1 game (right now there are none).

We need to play well and let everything take care of itself. If that happens we will get a lot of wins which is what we need above all else. This team can win.

So… we need to play well. And we need to win.

That sounds like our entire offensive strategy. 😉😂
