On espn app...
I could understand Grant, Capel, and Smart. But this was a real douche move by Wade.
As upset as I was when Smart left, I also understood. He stayed a lot longer than he "should" have (based on how college coaches are always looking to move up to better jobs). This...it just feels weird. Like we were used.
Screw him, this is a major crap on us move by him. He must really want out of here. What hurts the most is how excited Lavar Batts and his family were to choose VCU, not to mention how close the entire recruiting class of 2017 were to each other...and Kevin Easley in2018, too - going all in for us and that slime ball, two faced eel of a former coach Will Wade is. This one will take a long time to rebound from as a program.
You'd think such a numbers-focused guy would notice his predecessors' track records. Oh well. VCU will continue to get better, as we always do.
Man, LSU though...I can't get my mind around that one.
Maybe I'm way off, but it always felt weird that our AD was all over him. Ed is everywhere during our games (even sitting right behind him on the road). I don't know how involved other ADs are, but it just felt like he hovered over the program (and Wade) all the time.
Again, maybe I'm way off. But maybe Wade got tired of that?
Can't express how disappointed I am. This will be more than a gut punch to the program and I fear our incoming class is gone already...some to LSU I'm sure.
Wow. Just wow. How deflating this must be for our incoming freshmen. I really thought this guy was different. I guess, in the end, it's all about the $$$. That's a shame. A low down dirty shame.
Wade was complaining about the problems of being at a mid-major from day one. It sounded brilliant when we thought he was figuring out how to get VCU to the next level. Guess he decided why build something special when he could take the easy way out? Or maybe he doesn't like the pressure of being at a school that cares deeply about basketball? Because six months from now no one at LSU will be able to name their basketball coach, and we'll be arguing about how many conference championships our new coach is going to bring home.
Now what? Mike Rhoads?
I don't think they can back out of their commitments that easily.
Many of you have spoken highly assistant Davis. What role did he playing recruiting? Is he a serious contender for the job? Been a lot of places that had a lot of success.
I see a lot of posts about how VCU is a stepping stone for coaches. The numbers would seem to suggest that they are stepping stones for our program.
