What was illegal...is now legal. Everything is skewed to P6 schools (NIL, NET, TV money, media coverage...). One fix is to open the NCAA mens tournament up to the top (68X2) 136 teams. It will just add a a few days to the tournament. Currently, it is my understanding that playing in 1 game pays a school $500,000 a year for 6 years. Pay more schools to compete in the tournament...this kind of money can help transform smaller schools athletic departments.

There are more non-P6 schools than P6 schools. Why can't we use our shear numbers to change the system? It is the non P6 (cinderella) schools that create excitement in the tournament. Not sure why we don't have more say.

Because P6 schools care more about money than excitement. They feel having these pesky non-P6 schools in the tournament exposing their mediocre teams takes money out of their pockets.

The big schools are what draw in the eyeballs and generate the money for the NCAA. Games that feature non-P6 vs. non-P6 matchups consistently draw lower ratings. Murray State vs. Saint Peter's was one of the lowest-rated R32 games last Tournament, even though SPU was the plucky underdog that had just upset Kentucky a round prior.

There has to be a system that could work. Pay tournament teams based on TV ratings if that is the most important criteria for a successful game. Maybe that will help TV ratings and help sweeten the pot. Fans could be encouraged to tune in as a way to help their teams.

Again, big-name schools would just make all the money in this scenario. People will tune in to watch Kentucky, Kansas, UCLA, Michigan State, and Duke no matter who those schools are playing. The only people tuning in to watch Fairleigh Dickinson vs. Florida Atlantic are a) sports bettors, and b) fans of those schools.

Well, I'm sure the players have looked at the system that allowed so many entities in college sports to get rich off their fame and sweat while they can't receive a free meal without getting scrutinized and feel that was actually the broken system.
Yep…I’m sure the Amazon workers would love to have CEOs paycheck

kids might want to look at the numerous pro leagues out there to get paid

college basketball will be able to back fill their spots with no drop off whatsoever

this NIL/ transfer portal is a joke

Are Amazon workers having their work uniforms sold and their likeness marketed? Is anybody ordering from Amazon because they know Wally Smith is delivering their package? Ridiculous analogy.

I don’t bet and I’m not a fan of either of those schools and I’m going to watch FDU vs. FAU

My point is that basketball die-hards like ourselves will watch. Casual viewers will not - and casual viewers are the ones who bring in the big dollars for CBS and the NCAA.

Too funny. Most know what’s really going on.
