Just like the Doo Dah Man we gotta keep on truckin’. I was in the Shenandoah Valley to celebrate my father’s 86th birthday. We watched the game together. After the game my father said something to the effect of…Well darn son I’m sorry about your team. I watched them play this year and they overcame adversity and went on a win streak to win their conference and tournament titles. It hurt when your guard Ace got hurt and they just did not play like they have been. They also ran into a tough team that you gotta play your A game against. In sports there is always another season and it helps when you have a good program to look forward to. I said, dang Dad! You have garnered lots of wisdom all these years. He laughed and said, well I don’t really know much. I thought to myself at that moment…Wow, I am pretty much just like my Pops in many ways.
Your dad's a great wise man. Wish him happy birthday from all of us!!!!
You - the jury still out on that call. LOL

Fellow Ram fan, I know Heel can get you frustrated. But having a thread calling him out as the Village Idiot is just not cool. Can you please change the title?

Fwiw, I am pretty sure VCUHeel isnt a fan of mine as we go at it a great deal. However, had he posted this I would have sent him the same message.

Whether you like/agree with his positions or not. He is entitled to make them. Moreover, he deserves respect.
We've stood by for months watching his public, unmerited and shameless campaign against our coach unfold within his self-created thread. His attacks against our coach are mean spirited and self-serving while adding no positive value to the program. He justifies his actions through donation dollars because he does not understand what a true charitable donation is. He gets away with it all only because he's able to post under a pseudonym. If ever he is ready to behave as a reasonable person I will gladly return the favor by dropping the incendiary language from this thread's title. For the record, I don't like having to respond this way any more than you like reading it. We refer to ourselves casually within our fan base as family and friends. In my circle, when a member of the tribe gets out of line someone has enough good sense to reach out and pull them back in. It's called self policing. Well folks, a member of our group is, as they say, off the reservation. Should we all sit silently and allow his continued public shelling to be fired at our head coach or do we push back against Heel's antics? I'm willing to change but our coach, staff, and team deserve better. I, for one, find this whole thing appalling. If he wants to create headlines attacking Rhoades then we can certainly reciprocate. But keep in mind, his position is that it doesn't bother him.

So, I'll pose this question to those whose opinions matter, as a couple of times here I've had it pressed up my Ram snout in true Spider fashion that my opinion as a fan who isn't in the position to back up his love with his wallet doesn't matter as much... is it OK for a lesser than life fan to be proud of the team he loves that, despite some pretty clear to me deficiencies, injuries and more, they accomplished dominating their conference in every way imaginable and being granted one more game? Is it OK to feel the NCAAT is but a chance at another game instead of what appears to be in every way, but an overly blown financial grab at every level akin to Valentine's Day?

Or is that grounds for mental health assessment? Should I check myself in? After 4 years working in the field I know how to game that system, so rather than entry-level TDO, should I look at higher-level stuff like restraints and IM medication?

This thread title was inspired by your intense hatred towards another poster. Friendly posters are trying to gently pull you back in.

and allow his abuse to continue? No way.

I have agreed to change if he will and I'll stand by it. Have you reached out to Heel?

This forum is always intriguing to me after a loss, especially a big loss.

it’s just….so awful. Can people not keep their emotions in check? How do some of you function in real life when things get tough? Do you just feed off of straight impulsive emotion? I am legitimately curious. This cannot be healthy.

I‘m not judging, seriously. But for the love of God, go chat with your spouse. Hug your kids if you have them. Have a beer with a friend.

I mean, my God. I live with a psychologist. She’d have a field day diagnosing some of you all. Some of these comments are straight wacky. Get a grip.
Dude. Yes. It’s mind blowing. And apparently these are adults and one of which is a Doctor/Surgeon or something. It’s scary and sad.

My 4 year old daughter is more mature and has greater coping skills.

Early in the season the team didn’t look good. Ace was hurt and we struggled. I was hard on Coach, not firing him, but doubted his. He has lost a couple teams in his tenure at VCU. People were seeing a pattern. This team came together and jelled to a 27-8 record and had a good year.

We will lose players and start all over next year. To compete on the next level, we need more size, and better shooters, and a shot blocker. We all have expectations. We are all entitled to our opinion no matter how crazy it may sound. This is a social forum to chat it up.

We all love VCU and go about it differently. We need a better offense and that is on the head coach. Coach gets paid to make all of the decisions. Shaka doesn’t have the same staff he had at VCU and to a fault, Coach need to understand that. Change can be good. He is loyal, we get that, but fans expect us to get better not just maintain. I can’t wait to fuss and cuss again next year. Cheers to the kids that practiced and played hard!!!!

Go Rams

Dude this is awesome…this year was special for me as my 92 year old Grandmother jumped on the VCU bandwagon early in the year and we would get to talk throughout the games. She just loved it so much. Between that and getting to watch with my daughters, it really puts things into perspective. I still am a nervous wreck during games and want us to win all of them but understanding even after a loss the special things attached to VCU games makes me feel very blessed and that being overly upset is just silly.

Since we are talking about this stuff. I know VCUHeel and he is a big fan. He lost his father this year and it was tough on him. His father was also a big fan and a fine man. Just wanted to say that. Good people.

I am sorry to hear of his loss. He's clearly a passionate fan who wants the program to succeed at the highest level possible.
