I didn't know Henrietta Lacks was a Virginian. Learn something new everyday, thanks Heel. I know she lived in turner Station in Dundalk, MD before dying and having her DNA used around the world. In Dundalk they consider her one of their own too. A monument to her is a great idea.
It’s not her DNA that was used, it was her cells.

She died of cervical cancer. Her cancer cells (HeLa) were harvested (without the consent or knowledge of her or her family) and found to be an immortal cell line. The first ever. That cell line is still used to this day in research. If you, a family member, or a friend have survived cancer or many other diseases, then it was likely based on research using her cell line.

Wikipedia has some good info on this.

Chaifetz was sold out for our game with them. But if you watch the game, there were very large areas with just empty seats with a white teeshirt draped over them. So don't complain when you see empty seats but "sold out" mentioned for games at the Stu. Of course we would all like people actually in the seats but empty or not the attendance is attendance. And our attendance, as a percentage of total seats available is still pretty good in comparison to many programs, including some P5 programs.
But I am not opposed to assessing better or alternative ways to get those ticket holders to actually come to the games and use their seats. Or donate those seats back on a per game basis if they aren't going to be used. Then VCU ticket office could sell the tickets or provide them to the students or donate them to local/city groups

If you watched the game and listened closely, they also mentioned it was their first sell out since 2020. I think everyone is still trying to recover from the attendance effects of Covid.

Good luck with that.

Only way those who don't use their tickets will ever give up those tickets... are if they are on a secondary market, where they are trying to recoup money for their season tickets/donations. If not they'll give em to a friend to use or they'll go unused.

No way in heck they'd donate them back to VCU, for VCU to then turn around and re-sell or give out for free. Especially if VCU isn't going to compensate them for it somehow.

Ok, back to how we can boost attendance : the food at the Stu is a boring stupid low effort mess and am tired of pretending its not.

"Oh Ed you crazy West End foodie snob, every meal cant be the tasting menu at Long Oven" you might say.

My rebuttal is that you need to follow @FootyScran .

100 year old stadiums that don't have indoor rest rooms can pump out food that is 345% better than the crap at the Stu.

Put a smoker in the parking lot.

Contract out to Proper Pie.

It's terrible and weak sauce.

Just because we are on a heater and getting some folks back in does not mean this is OK
