I got into a debate with someone here about Wade's coaching career being over. I absolutely guarantee he'll get a D-1 gig at some point. Money trumps morals. Some school that hasn't won in decades will be desperate enough to hire Wade, especially given the success Houston has had rolling the dice on Sampson.

Say what you want about him, he can coach and he's won at every level. And one upset as a 15th seed in the tournament will get him back to a decent school.

I've concluded this thread is stupid. We are too busy hand wringing over the implications of March to absorb and enjoy the growth/maturation of this team.

March is what really matters in college basketball. That said, I spoke my mind on MR’s tenure when our at large chances effectively went out the window in December.

Since then, I’ve enjoyed the season for what it is: hoping the team plays its best ball for a few days in Brooklyn. I’m also enjoying the maturation of some of the players.

You reference 2011 and all seniors. My favorite season is 2012 when we came in with little to no expectations and a ton of underclassmen. Turned out to almost be a Sweet 16 squad.

Your tune might change if you were a 21-2 Charleston team with a NET rank of 60 when the selection committee uses the NET for selection and seeding. You can say things aren’t different all you want.

2012 is the exception to the rule but then again this could be 2012 all over again.

I believe 2012 was Shaka's greatest coaching job. I think Will Wade may have said the same.

For sure. No real expectations with a roster turnover, just an enjoyable season all around. It's too bad we blew that last minute lead against Indiana, back to back Sweet 16 appearances would've been amazing.

Time is on your side. No if someone stated it would be less than 5 years I'd guess you'd lose. I would take the bet on him landing at a "decent" school next. However, you and I might define "decent" differently.

We know WW can cheat and entice good players to play for him. We think he can coach but the guy also is as loyal as Bill Clinton in a CatHouse.

Sampson, Petino, and others have bounced back why not Sir Slimey as well. The only issue with WW is I am not sure he is well liked amongst his peers. Petino, and Sampson are well entrenched.

Whether one likes him or detests him the comments he makes in article posted are spot on. NIL and portal have trumped culture. Win legally or go home is the expectation for most fans. I really don’t think VCU is different. I really like MR. I really like the kids on this team. I really like VCU (where I got my degree, my wife got her undergrad and grad degree and where two of my my kids got their degrees), but I have little interest in being mediocre. Not winning a ncaa tournament game in many years is not a nationally relevant program. Is this acceptable, or has the dog once again eaten our homework?

I don't think most fans care about winning legally. They just don't want to get caught. If you were talking about VCU specifically then I do agree because we wouldn't get a slap on the wrist like some of the other schools do.

Yep, there are some proud championship banner waiving fans who know their school bent the rules to get their rings and don't care (i.e. UCLA/John Wooden).
