We had the Dead Milkman play a show and they took the stage after an opening act at ~ 10;45. Unbeknownst to us, but somehow known to the abc agents, the lead singer was only 16 and due to child labor laws he had to be off the stage by 11:00. So it was 2 songs, followed by “Punk Rock Girl” and they were done. That cost Chip and Bobby a lot of free drinks. They thought the “green room” was a coat closet
Lots of folks from Oregon Hill and patrons, friends, and family from a little establishment called “Last Chance”It was packed like sardines and as I recall NOT a typical VCU crowd.
Good to hear that, well the fun that is, not the extra semester! Though the extra semester is okay, I took 6 years, switching majors and going part time... and having some fun!VCU was plenty fun in the late 2000s and early 2010s, I can assure everyone. Fun enough I needed to spend an extra semester in school.
I used to make the drive from NOVA just for the Widomaker and a big fried chicken sandwich. Was very bummed when I found that Johnny G screwed it.I really miss Texas Wisconsin Border Cafe. Big fan of Bamboo as well. We could always slip in at 1:45AM for one more drink before last call.
Yes, their specialty was the Moon Rock. We never knew what it was.Don't sleep on Hibbs.
Missed those.Schafer Court--Anyone else at the Death Piggy show that got shut down by the cops?
Anyone else at the Boy-O-Boy show at the Jade Elephant?
"The Jade Elephant, where brain cells went to die"Does anyone remember the Jade Elephant?! LOL!
They had some wild bartenders LOLDoes anyone remember the Jade Elephant?! LOL!
I went there with three friends one week after getting to VCU. We all left at the same time, but one guy had to go back in because he forgot his jacket. He then proceeded to get turned around and go out the wrong door. After looking for him for a long time, we drove back to our student housing ... at Treehouse. Our friend relayed later that he wandered around Monroe Park at 1am for about an hour before catching a ride back to Treehouse. I cannot for the life of me remember how he got a ride, or how he didn't get mugged or killed.Does anyone remember the Jade Elephant?! LOL!
Ahh. Almost forgot about Treehouse. It was the place to go get your ya ya's out and then take the 6 mile walk of shame back to campus. They were great times my friends...I went there with three friends one week after getting to VCU. We all left at the same time, but one guy had to go back in because he forgot his jacket. Oh it was absolutely party central. Full-sized apartments and nearly zero supervision. I had an RA but only saw him on move-in and move-out days. Couldn't tell you his name now, nor could I tell you then. I was shoved out there because I transferred in at the age of 20 after going to community college for a couple of years. I really wanted to get into the old GRC and have a real campus experience, but Treehouse had some advantages.Ahh. Almost forgot about Treehouse.
