Oh it was absolutely party central. Full-sized apartments and nearly zero supervision. I had an RA but only saw him on move-in and move-out days. Couldn't tell you his name now, nor could I tell you then. I was shoved out there because I transferred in at the age of 20 after going to community college for a couple of years. I really wanted to get into the old GRC and have a real campus experience, but Treehouse had some advantages.
I really feel bad for all the young ones who didn't get to have the total VCU 80s-90s experience. Schaefer was the center of all things VCU.

Yes, I'm dating myself, but it was the best experience ever for a kid like me. Wish I could go back in time for just a weekend, hit the keg at the Schae and then go get some great chili.

I was 90-94 -- one school year at Treehouse and three years in an apartment on Monument. I never lived on campus even though I lived in campus housing. Kind of weird.

Monument? You must have had $$$ :) Us peasants lived on Grace, Grove, Cary, Floyd or Main. We needed our carry permits for sure.

If you lived west of the BLVD. back in the 80's the rent wasn't that bad.
Rent was always good in the 80's pretty much everywhere in RVA. No one really wanted to live anywhere in the Fan. Consider us pioneers!

No, but the long walk home after you were too drunk to remember where you parked your car, or your fiends had parked theirs, in the wee hours of the morning was (that is unless you made it to last call at the boo on your “journey” home)
