George Karl: "I’m supportive of a Bones trade by the Nuggets. He’s a great talent but inexperienced and his shot selection could kill a potential NBA championship team in the Playoffs."

How that overrated coach got in the hall of fame I'll never know.

I agree about the overrated coach part, but gotta say, I do not disagree with his quoted comment.

Selfishly, I don’t wanna see Bones traded for 2 reasons. First, the Nuggets are a fun team to watch and they’ve gotten me back to watching the NBA. Second, I bought me and my son tickets to see them play the Wizards in March and he would be really bummed if Bones wasn’t on the team.
Same, I doubt if I would even go.

I hear from an avid longtime Ram fan during most Nuggets games, and he's like me, frustrated with the rotations.. seeing Bones put at the 2 instead and seeing the effect on his productivity drop.
I saw this just now, and this dude's got a point.
An obvious Bones homer in this post, but he has some really good points he's posted on reddit:

Interesting that you have the same crystal ball as Karl. Bones is gonna be fine wherever he goes. He is still learning the NBA game and guys are huge in the NBA. If he leaves I can unfollow all those Denver folks that flood my timeline with crappy Broncos information. I don’t care about the donkeys.

This is his 2nd year in the league and Karl has already determined Bones can't help the Nuggets win a ring? Maybe this is why Karl has a .432 playoff winning percentage...but he's in the hall of fame.

I hope he does not get traded - especially before Feb 7th. I like watching the Jokic and the Nuggets play - and I'll be in Denver at the Nuggets-Timberwolves game on the 7th.

Karl really knows what it takes to win in the Playoffs?
After all - he lost in the First Round 14 times.

The funny thing about that is that Bones is heavily rumored to be going to the Timberwolves, so you might still get to see him if that happens.

Karl also acts like more of a curmudgeon these days with his takes on players. Fine let him have his say. Many people have opinions on Bones in his 2nd year. He has been inconsistent but I also think someone on their staff got in his head. Maybe Malone will get his boy Facu back. He loved that guy last year. I watched as he screwed up the rotations last season and he is doing the same now. If they trade for let's say....Naz Reid...are you telling me that is gonna make their 2nd unit productive with Braun and Cancar? HaHa! The Nuggets have a basketball savant in Jokic. They do have a shot at the Finals but I would bet that they will not win it due to a change. They just seem to have too much change in their rotations coupled with rage timeouts and emotional line up fiddling day to day. I wish Bones could stay because I think he would help them. They need points in the 2nd unit. If he goes I hope it is with someone he likes. He will continue to learn and get better. Another thought....has anyone thought that maybe Bones wants out of there? I kind of think so.

Come on now. I don’t have a crystal ball any more than any of you do.

I also don’t care if it is coming from Karl or a casual fan this forum.

It is reasonable to believe that a player like Bones who tends to be a chucker and defensive liability can have a detrimental effect to a team come playoff time.

You all can snark at me all you want. Just an opinion based on his style of play. I hope he stays in Denver and goes beast mode in the playoffs.

I know. I was talking about a comment that really is just speculation. Nobody knows what would happen in the playoffs. Heck, Bones could hit four 3s in the 4th quarter to help them win. Karl did not like the pick when Denver made it. Like I said, before Bones even played 15 games I can remember George Karl not wanting to even talk about him.

...and how many NBA championships does Karl have? Former coach with no rings but has an opinion on how to win one.
What an awful take in general. So only players or coaches who won championships are allowed to comment on things of this nature? Quick, call up Luc Longley.

Some of the greatest players and coaches in the history of sports (think Jerry Sloan) never won titles.

It’s all speculation. Pretty funny how all the positive comments about Bones’ game is met with pure joy and fist bumps. But the second someone even hints at a hole in his game, the pitchforks come out.

I ride with Bones. I said that he was struggling right now. Bones is gonna shoot the ball and play his game. They drafted him knowing that.
