other than the football point i really don’t get that. all of those teams have higher nets than a10 teams, and with the likes of la salle, umass, duquesne, gw, and fordham in the conference it’s hard to argue that most of them don’t have bigger athletic budgets.

The only basketball only school I would consider would be Charleston joining the A-10. None of those other schools have had any consistent success recently in basketball. And Pitino is old, and will not be at Iona much longer. Also, Archie Miller is now at Rhode Island and they didn't even make your cut. UMass also now has Frank Martin as their head coach. And where is St. Bonaventure in your list? St. Bonaventure's all-time record against VCU is now 8-8, and they didn't even make your cut.:roll::roll:

And FYI, VCU has already been in the same conference with half of those schools, and their basketball programs have gone in the wrong direction. Especially since they have moved up to FBS football.

That seems like a lot of trouble to go through just to avoid the city of Philadelphia... not that I don't understand the impulse, but still.

I like Charleston as well as UNCG.

If they have a stupid nickname, then they should be in the A-10. BTW am I correct that there only 4 D1 schools named Rams and our conference has 3 of them?

Correct. This, and this alone, is why the A10 needs to be courting Colorado State.

Better yet, VCU, Rhode Island, and Fordham split off into a new conference with Colorado State, then transition a bunch of schools from lower divisions to Division I like Angelo State, Bluefield, Thomas Jefferson, Mobile, Shepherd, and Winston-Salem State. Name the new conference Ram Nation.

I endorse this idea. Make it happen.

I'll add some other crazy far fetched rumours to the pot today since @WillWeaverRVA got this thread brewing today.
Hard to imagine Villanova playing anywhere but the Big East. But, in terms of raiding other conferences for bball only schools, particularly if for some reason they're looking east, that means you're looking at the Big East or A10. They're not "east" but Witchita State could be another possibility. I'm kind of worried that one of the bball only schools could be Dayton. Geographically, it would make a bit of sense. Losing Dayton would obviously weaken the A10 considerably.
