For Funsies: Conference Reallignment/Creation

What would be the attraction for C of C to come to the A10? The A10 is becoming a one-bid league without NCAAT expansion. C of C stands a better chance of earning the auto-bid from the CAA. I know shares are better in the A-10, but you have to get in the dance to get a share...easier from the CAA.

It would probably be easier for them to recruit and get quality portal players if they were in the A10. They would also have a more attractive home conference schedule.

And while the A10 is getting closer to being a 1 bid league, it has still only happened once. As down as I am on the A10, I wouldn’t call it a 1 bid league currently. It’s more like a 2-2.5 bid league right now.

Following your logic. Then why did VCU leave the CAA? The A-10 historically is not a one bid league. And adding C of C in place of UMass is definitely an upgrade for the A-10. Personally, I'm still holding out for Wichita State.

Honestly, if we're staying in the A-10 for any length of time and UMass is leaving for the MAC, I would rather the conference just add both C of C and Wichita State to go to an even number of schools.

They would probably go back. They are desperate to get in a conference.
It will be financials that drives UMass to the MAC. The A10 use to make more money than the MAC, but that has changed since the Big East became the best conference without FBS football. Will post the 990 numbers but like to add the A10 was mostly public institutions before all the founding public universities left, except UMass. That was OK while the A10 was earning at least 4 bids. Wish UConn would accept a FB only with a UMass all sports and see if Rhode Island can use the time to get their facilities out of the dumper. Dream scenarios, but UMass does need an east coast partner to get us to move. Here enters Delaware. Not the MAC first choice, but who knows.

Checked with 1 Dayton fan so not a good sample size, but Dayton was interested in the American before Cincy left, but not so much now. You guys are mentioned with a pairing with FB only Army add to the American.

The following maybe to detailed and long and can remove most of it if it upsets folks. I'm part of a growing minority that want to go all sports to the MAC. Think we can form rivalries with Buffalo, Ohio, and Toledo and the east facing basketball wing as Kent State and Akron.

the a10 was a different conference when we joined

Hoping it isn't VCU but it will be interesting to see who/if the AAC adds an Olympic sports partner to go with Army.
