For Funsies: Conference Reallignment/Creation

Would love the road options of Tampa, Miami, Boca Raton, New Orleans, and San Antonio over the likes of Philly, NYC, and Olean in the winter.
I don't give a crap where we play. I just want to play winning teams. That is what will move us ahead. Playing mediocre teams located in warm weather beach communities won't.

As far as USF, I think they want out and are looking to upgrade both facilities and conference. Football alone has received $35 million in large donations in just the last 10 months.
2023
Football performance center naming rights - 5 million
Football athletic district and naming rights - 25 million from Tampa General Hospital (if I'm a patient there, I would be pissed)

Dec 2022
another football naming rights gift of 5.1 million

They can speculate all they want. I don't think VCU has any interest in going to a waiting room conference that's geared heavily toward football. I hope I'm not proven wrong.
The AAC is actually in a fairly strong position now with the PAC 12 dead, the Big 10 and Big 12 pretty close to full, and the ACC in a 13 year holding pattern.

And the AAC is definitely a better basketball conference right now than the A10.

I think the AAC is still ripe for the picking. Memphis will be gone sooner or later.

For those people out there that were bashing the ACC for adding SMU, they just raised $100 million in 7 days from 30 donors to help defray their loss of ACC TV revenue for 9 years. That is a crazy amount of money to be raised in one week. And SMU says the school isn't expecting the fundraising efforts to slow down anytime soon. SMU has stated their goal is to raise $200 million to defray the loss of TV revenue in the ACC for 9 years and it will NOT a problem. It scares me to think how much NIL money they could also be raising to be very competitive in the ACC. The school has a very large revenue source in it's alumni/donor base.

It’s interesting that VCU would fit in academically just as well in the Big East as it does in the A10. And we’d be one of the more highly ranked schools in the AAC.

How does the AAC and the A10 compare in the 2024-2025 season, if you consider all known and unknown member changes?

To me this question is would you rather be in the A-10 with SLU & Dayton gone or the AAC with Memphis gone.

Not really sure which is better but at least with the A-10 you know nobody else would be leaving.

Memphis has nowhere to go right now.

I remember having conversations on the Big East board about potential members, most posters said VCU's academics weren't up to par. Then I mentioned we were right next to Saint Johns in the rankings.
