I love me some midweek Maction
Oof. Yeah, McNeese would be a huge loss for the Southland.Katfans.com @KatFansDotCom
According to @MattBrownEP, WACsports will vote on UIW and McNeese on Tuesday Significant blow for Southland Conference if either or both join the WAC
Is it 70/55% of fees? Or 70/55% of AD budget? If they have to reduce their reliance on student fees, then they can...and probably will do what ODU did. Just raise the student fees to increase total revenue but take the smaller percentage of the total. That way, they increase their total take of student fees and thus the lower percentage would make up for it getting more money:
70% of 100 = 70. Thus if they increase their student fees by 25% but only take 55% of 125 = 68.75. Or, if the FBS TV contract gives them more money and they increase ticket prices to games to see their FBS team play and get approval to increase student fees by say, 10%-15%, that might more than offset the reduced reliance requirement on student fees.
Also, JMU is one of the few times.....like Delaware that actually makes money....or at least comes close to breaking even on their current FCS team. Perhaps UVa might be willing to alternate home game weekends with JMU so they could "share" fans who might be interested....at least for the short term.
I don’t remember where it was, but just in the last week or two the students at one school voted against raising student fees to do something similar. If they have to reduce their reliance on student fees, then they can...and probably will do what ODU did. That is why I don't see post #1444 working...They need to get to student fees being no more than 55% of athletic funding.

JMU takes another step toward FBS football, but the General Assembly must approve its financial plan first
At its current, FCS level, JMU can rely on fees for 70% of its athletic funding. With a move to the Group of Five FBS level in the Sun Belt,richmond.com
That is why I don't see post #1444 working...
JMU certainly didn’t mind this when other schools left the CAA.
I remember that was part of why we made the move to the a10 immediately.JMU certainly didn’t mind this when other schools left the CAA.
I guess Liberty is thinking it will be too hard to schedule a complete season as an independent moving forward? Or maybe they think it's a better launching pad to greener pastures? Absolute dump of a conference...Brett McMurphy @Brett_McMurphy
FBS independents Liberty & New Mexico State & FCS members Jacksonville State & Sam Houston State likely joining Conference USA as all-sports members, sources told
@ActionNetworkHQ. Addition of those 4 schools will help replenish C-USA after recent losses
