Two schools that can bank on making the custom social media graphic announcing his finalists are Tennessee and VCU.
“I’m still gonna weigh it out with the other schools, but those two are definitely in,” Dilione says. “They’ve built a strong relationship with me, and they’ve become like family. They’ve shown me that I’m a priority.”
It’s understandable. Dilione has put on a show on the hardwood over the last nine months that has made him worthy of a hyper-focused pursuit.
The staff seems to have put in the works on three or four guys that are really, really good. We sign one of them, that will be great. That we are continuing to offer guys at this position says we are hedging our bets just in case we don't get one of them. A good strategy probably, but we are still in the running. Here's hoping one of these guys commits to VCU, and soon, the suspense is getting to me.Freddie's recruitment speaks well to how good our staff is at relationship building. He has a multitude of high-major offers yet states that VCU has already made the cut. Does that mean that we ink Freddie? No - but it does mean that our staff has put us in a position once again to have a shot at an elite player that can pretty much go where he wants. Other elite recruits pay close attention to this. What's difficult is that when you recruit elite prospects like Freddie, Silas, Elmarko etc. you may strike pay dirt and lock one up or you may come away empty handed. The difficulty factor is very high albeit doable as we have shown.
