I know, and the results were so poor that those holes immediately reopened at the end of the following season.
2017 was a fill holes recruiting year
2018 - Vince Williams, Corey Douglas, Keyshawn Curry were some of his recruits.. I think PJ Byrd was the 4th & transferred out,
2019, & 2020- seems like solid recruiting classes.. Tre Clarke gone.
2021- looks like a solid group.
No coach is going to be successful 100% when recruiting players.

Yes but one hopes for a higher rate than 20% in two years of classes.

Again, it doesn't matter now but it's super 20/20 hindsight for people to act like there were never any reasons to be concerned.

No clue what people are talking about.

Bones: 4 star (t100)
Ace: 4 star
Jamir: 4 star
Ward: 3 star
Vince: 3 star
Banks: 3 star
MBJ: 3 star
McCallister: 3 star
Kern: 3 star
Deloach: 3 star

Mike's done a great job recruiting since that class of 2018.

You can't tell me that he didn't deserve the doubts he was getting his first couple of years when 4 of the 5 freshman he recruited in his first 2 classes were either thankfully gone after a year or are role players at best.
Bones would have been a 5 star and playing for a P5 program if not for the tragedy that forced him to miss the AAU season after his junior year.

The only people who were concerned were those who don’t know Mike and didn’t TRUST that he could recruit well. Ask Shaka or anyone on the team back then. Mike was as responsible for landing some of those top recruits during Shaka’s time as anyone else. Ultimately, the head coach gets the credit or blame, but recruiting is a team effort.
