VCU (2-0) used a 41-point second half to propel itself past the Bears of Morgan State in a 69-54 contest.
The first half saw the lead change six times as both teams brought a physicality and high-octane pace to the floor.
A pair three-pointers from Zeb Jackson and David Shriver gave the Rams a 6-point advantage midway through the first half—their largest lead in the first 20 minutes.
Jackson and Shriver finished the night with 9-points and 11-points, respectively, scoring 20 of the Rams 24-points of the bench.
The Bears rallied though and took only a one-point deficit into the locker room.
The first four minutes of the second half saw 4 more lead changes—including two separate layups from former Ram, Lewis Djonkam, that would give the Bears a one-point leads on those respective makes.
Jamir Watkins, who scored the opening three-pointer for the Rams, tied the game at the free throw line. Watkins then got the steal on the next inbound play for a layup to kick off a 9-0 run for VCU...
