Players Jalen DeLoach is a VCU Ram

Dunno if it means they like each other, but I passed Shrivel and Toby on my way from getting groceries. I certainly wouldn't go grocery-ing with someone I didn't care for. Maybe at their age, but in my late mid-30s I have a system and I ain't putting up with that.

Why can't we call Shriver Shriver? I musta missed the rationale...

Getting back to Jalen, I am wondering if he might really break out this year. I think his offense was held back last year by injury. So, we really didn't see everything he could do. He certainly didn't back down from being a inside physical presence last year. Add a more polished inside game, plus stepping out for mid-range and even some threes and he may be an offensive weapon also. His workout videos in the off season have been impressive. I'm thinking we may see an even better player this season.

What injuries did Jalen have, I don’t recall him being held back or wearing any tape/braces?

Thanks, missed that completely. I knew Nunn had an issue, but never noticed DeLoach…..now i get the offensive optimism.
Yeah, DeLoach dealt with the injury on his shooting hand all season. He missed one or two games early if I remember correctly. There were some games when he did not have tape but he was still hampered.

"Share" is on point ... the term "what comes up must come down" hasn't applied to VCU hoops for the last 20 years ... consider: from last year's team, Rams have lost Stockard, Brown-Jones, Williams, Tsohonis, Curry, McAllister and Ward and, if anything, Black & Gold expectations have soared upward rather than down. If any other A-10 school lost that many talented players, it would be picked to finish last. I've never seen anything like it. Even after losing four star seniors from '11 team, Rams were just as powerful in '12, minus the extender tourney success. Lose Maynor, Sanders, Skeen, Daniels, Graham, Hyland, etc. and train just keeps on rumbling down the tracks.

Yes, I've always wondered at the so called experts who predict us to finish down in the standings because of who we lost. All the while we are expecting to do well because we are looking at who we still have.
I think this year the experts have done a little better, not just looking at who we lost, but who is coming back and who we gained. Whether we see them as proven or not, most of the "experts" think that Jackson and Johns are going to help us a lot. I see that as a good possibility also.
This team is oozing talent, if chemistry comes together, roles get worked out and everyone buys in on both ends of the floor... well yes, I'm drinking the cool aid! Yep, I'm gulping it down in great quantities and it's really good!
Very excited to see this group take the court, can't wait!

Oozing question marks and potential, not talent.

Question Marks = Johns, Jackson, Watkins (ACL), Shriver (grad), Banks, Kern, Lawal

Potential = Deloach, Fermin, Billups

Proven = Baldwin, Nunn

Talent is not size, length, athleticism, speed, quicks, muscle, hops. Cumulatively, we probably have enough of this.

Talent is physical skill/understanding - shooting ability, handle, passing, catching, court awareness, IQ. We may not have enough of this. Jury is still out.

Some of the unknowns above will hit, some will miss. Examining the current landscape, we’re probably (at best) a “fringe/bubble” NCAA roster right now. Top 40-60 NET/KP.

Staying fully healthy (minus McAllister) going forward is probably the key.
