If you're going to ban weed in the NBA because it's illegal right now, that's one thing... But once it becomes legal nationwide (one day..) the league should reevaluate whether or not they're going to ban alcohol consumption from their athletes as well.

Did Larry break the rules? Yes, duh. But it's a shame that kind of rule has to exist in the first place. Alcohol causes more assaults, domestic abuse cases, car crashes, and deaths than weed ever could. Use something responsibly and there's no harm. It's time for the stigma of marijuana to be erased, while we turn a blind eye to liquor consumption.

I agree with Larry about the legalization of marijuana. This doesn't take away from the fact that Larry has turned into one of the single biggest dumbasses in the nba, and that is saying a lot.

He missed time earlier in the season due to a bar fight. He has now tested positive for a banned substance of the NBA and he had an earlier run in with the law due to animal cruelty. When does it stop - or does it?

He is positioning himself to being cut by the Bucks if he doesn't get his poop straight.

While I really like Larry, he needs to learn to keep his mouth shut, start acting and playing like a top notch athlete, keep out of trouble on and off the court, and continue drawing/painting in his free time.

Can't say I disagree with him, but that's not the point. He's free to get a gig where there's no drug testing and he can smoke all the weed he wants as long as the law doesn't catch up with him (i.e. Ricky Williams). But just like just about every profession, you have to make some personal sacrifices in order to get paid. I would love to show up for work when I feel like it, but I can't.

The Bucks are paying Larry a lot of money and he owes it to the organization and his teammates to follow the rules and earn his salary. This stuff really lends credibility to some of the things people have insinuated about Larry when he was at VCU. No wonder we won the CBI when he led the team and the went to the final four after he left.

For you youngsters, VCU was once known far more for Art than Athletics ... folks around Richmond traveled out of their way to drive up Franklin Street and gawk at the long-haired "freaks" ... so when school name changed to VCU in summer 1968, it wasn't long before Virginia Cannabis University was standard joke. Hippie U was another moniker.

By contrast, now Larry Longarms has set up shop in American's brewing Mecca - Pabst and Schlitz, "The Beer that made Milwaukee Famous." You've got to wonder what slugger Hank Aaron did in Milwaukee to celebrate home runs?

For once, I completely and 100% agree with you. Larry can do what he wants in the off-season but during the season he is being paid a good amount of money to play at the highest level which you can't do if you have a buzz on, are toasted, hungover, or cloudy from drinking or smoking kush.

Larry has been in the league 4 years and has basically had one decent season and is making 11 mil a year! He has never gotten over 10 ppg for a season. This season, having only been in a total of 23 games, he is averaging 7 ppg and 7 rpg.

He needs to get his head out of his a$$, stop his antics, and put in the effort that they are paying him for. Otherwise, he better have a good investor, because at the end of his contract he is going to find that his pay is going to drop by a huge amount. You don't get 11 mil a year by shooting and rebounding 7 and 7 respectively.

Perhaps he ought to take that 11 mill a year and invest in a pot farm in CO if he likes it so much!

As an aside, I am all for complete legalization of pot. But rules are rule...and Larry is just pissing (or toking) away his opportunities very early in his career and life.

I'm an advocate for legalization myself, along with the majority of Americans. I agree that Larry taking a stand for legalization at this point in his career, having been out previously for a bar fight of all things, is probably not the best idea. People are going to tire of him pretty quickly. I don't think he should be vilified for saying this stuff, but after everything else it's a little much. He just needs to get back on the basketball court. Let's be honest guys, we all know a ton of these athletes use this substance. I won't name names, but in the not too distant past, I have smoked with many of the members of a certain city rival's team since they picked up from a guy I knew. It's very common. Hopefully Larry turns his image around soon.. But it has to start with basketball
