With just 24 seconds to play, the Dayton Flyers took a two point home lead on back-to-back to the free throw line.
When Ace Baldwin got the ball across the half court line and called the timeout, the Rams only had 14 seconds to execute the plan.
Baldwin was on the receiving end of the inbound pass, and needed only 8 seconds to shed from the clock before he buried the three-pointer from the top of the key to take a 53-52 lead—and seal the victory for the Rams (8-4; 1-0 A10).
It was the second three of the game for Baldwin—he hit back-to-back threes late in the game—and his fourth triple of the season.
He finished the night with 12 points and a team leading 7 assists.
This was the first game in 21 days for VCU as the Rams were on COVID protocols, and needed to reschedule several contests.
With only 9 players available, the Rams were tested for 40 minutes by the Flyers as the game saw 13 lead changes and 10 ties.
