Yeah, each person has to do what they're comfortable with. But also, overseas doesn't have to mean playing in Lithuania. People have made a decent living playing in Puerto Rico. But again, he has to do what is most comfortable for him. Good luck
Truly an American thing. We dont try to learn new languages, we dont want to venture out unless its in the Caribbean. Look the world is small and and adventurous place.

Let's be clear Doug Brooks was an average college basketball. Europe was never going to be his oyster. Now take Shu for example, that guy has played and lived in the South of France, Germany, Monaco, Greece, and he's made a lot of money doing so.

Overseas is too broad. Yeah, I wouldnt want to live in most of the Stans but living overseas is not different than say someone from the East Coast moving out west.

Yeah not for everyone but it must be qualified by what we mean by overseas and how much coin you are making while living there. I lived in Europe in the early 80's and as a young soldier I had a damned blast. Now would I want to live in the Middle East, Turkey, the Stans, Russia (even before the war) heck no.

I have to disagree. If you play three years and graduate from a school there is a connection. I know people who attended VCU transferred and still have the connection to VCU. I also know similar folks who never graduated.

It depends on the person whether they feel connected or are connected. There are guys who are 1 and done who are connected. Surely if you play 3 years you can connect. Chris Cheeks played just 2 years and sure as heck is connected.

I came to VCU after the army and a handful community colleges and I am connected.

As to MSS, the guy played 3 years, achieved one the Court and graduate. There is a connection.
Possibly, but I would be surprised if he ever comes back to Richmond. Probably won't spend much time in Lubbock either.

Dubai is pretty awesome, Tel-Aviv is also dope and the nice parts of Istanbul are top knotch—for an expat, those spots at least on par with most Euro cities.

Yeah it all depends on the person..... I've become friends with a lot of players over the years here..... some who transferred after 1 year.... Some who stayed here for all 4 years.

Look at a guy like Justin Tuoyo.... he only played 1 year here... then went to Chattanooga with Wade (who then ended up coming back to VCU after 2 years... but Tuoyo stayed at UTC).... he def has a connection here. Even came back & played for Team RamNation in TBT once or twice.

Gilmore, even if he had never transferred back to VCU... woulda had a connection to VCU absolutely.

But I also know players (mostly on the women's side) that are not very connected here, in large part because they choose not to be associated with one person or another who is still employed by the school. One player, who played for us for two years & ended up transferring.... said she refused to come back to any VCU games or even the campus itself as long as our current coach (O'Boyle) was here. And there are some others. Even ones who played 3-4 years here.

All just depends on the person & their experiences

I am happy for him (once a Ram always a Ram)
I will follow him like other former Rams (sorry to disappoint you)
The relationship was never like that anyway.
