News News About RAMS In The Pros

I can only gather they're talking about this:

BREAKING: LeBron James plans to commit to Team U.S.A. next summer along with Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, Jayson Tatum and Draymond Green, per
@ShamsCharania
“Separately, Phoenix’s Devin Booker, Portland’s Damian Lillard, Sacramento’s De’Aaron Fox and Dallas’ Kyrie Irving also have serious interest in committing, league sources said.”

The US squad just placed fourth in the FIBA Basketball World Cup, and was widely seen as being comprised of second or third tier stars. This announcement is in response to that (and it's a way to make the conversation about Lebron instead of the loss).

Doesnt matter that’s why you have a Minshew he steps in and holds it down until Richardson can com back. Richardson didnt look all that bad and certainly not as bad as folks on this board thought he would be. The critics loved him.
AR looked GOOD! Much better than his other rookie QB counterparts. Identifying coverages, finding his hot routes on blitzes, fitting throws into tight windows, etc. all while in an RPO offense with zero production out of RB's for the game. Has to get better at not staring down his first read and needed some more touch on the pass to Mo that got picked off late game (great play by Tyson Campbell), but very promising start all things considered. Again, Colts are no better with Minshew at QB than AR. I still don't get why some people keep trying to push that. AR's arm talent isn't something you can coach. There are throws he can make that Minshew, or most QBs for that matter, couldn't dream of making (See throw at 4:33 below). You take the good with the bad. As for the late injury, it's just a bruised knee and he should be fine for this week's game

They can spin it all they want but USA got out coached and out played by a team doing nothing but things the NBA forgot existed: fundamental basketball.

Same reason Europeans are slowly taking over the league... Flashy plays and athleticism can only go so far when you can't box out, don't know how to play/move off the ball and are so used to the offensive team giving up on plays that you forget about positioning and give the other team dozens of second chances.

I agree.

Also, the defense wasnt there. People try to put Kerr into the group of great HC's but forget Mark Jackson put the team together and instilled their defensive tenacity.

Kerr is a genius for letting curry play to his strengths and introducing 3 ball. But his D and decisions arent the best. I guess its easy when you have the worlds best shooter.

However, as you state the US just tries to out athlete everyone.

If you haven’t watched “Redeem Team” on Netflix, I highly recommend it. It explains why and how international competition caught up to Team USA back in the early aughts and what we did about it. I haven’t seen evidence that we’re not repeating our errors.

We basically put an NBA all star team out there for the olympics......same thing we did when hockey lost and and 4 years later the team was basically an NHL all star team. Did the same thing with baseball.
And it is the reason I no longer watch, listen or even keep up with the olympics....it has become a professional sports organization that hosts an every 4 year fall and winter professional sports tournament.

Apathy at its finest. I only care about the Colts because of Mohammed, Maybe the Clippers if Bones is still there.

The reason it occurred is that the USA held strong with amateur athletes until it became crystal clear that other countries did not.

Doesn't it make sense to have your best athletes in the Olympics, whether they're amateurs or not? Besides, I think if we insisted upon TRUE amateurs, at this point that would mean we would be rolling out D3 players for the basketball team.

That whole amateur status was dubious at best. It was actually used to exploit athletes for the profit of their Olympic committees. Athletes such as Steve Prefontain fought with the AAU regarding pay equity.

At the end of the day, there are no “TRUE amateurs” never was.

I just put it this way. I do not like what the Olympics have become and thus, the games no longer interest me. I don't know what else to tell ya.

The entire premise of the Olympics was, amateur. The olympics started as amateur events in 776 BC. Then in 1896 the IOC setup the world wide/country level olympics, again as an amateur sporting event.
