So possibly getting to face teams like San Diego State, Nevada, New Mexico, UNLV... interesting.
That's cool but I'd prefer the American Conference
Takes two to tango.
I love this idea if Nevada can be bothered to play a game east of the Mississippi.
Since I looked them up in the other thread for the teams we face this year.... here's our current all time record against current Mountain West Teams
Nevada- 1-1 (Home 1-0, Away 0-1)
Boise State- 1-0 (Away 1-0)
Wyoming- 1-0 (Home 1-0)
New Mexico- 0-0
San Diego State- 0-0
Fresno State- 0-0
Utah State- 0-0
Air Force- 0-0
Colorado State- 0-0
San Jose State- 0-0
So we are 3-1 all time against current Mountain West Teams and needless to say.. we'd be starting a lot of new series.
If URI is picked to go to Nevada before the Wolfpack play at the Ryan Center, it will decline. Poetic justice on the other hand would have Nevada first coming to Kingston after wimping out of its return game that had been scheduled this season.
I'm sure the match ups will be based on previous year's standings just like other conference challenges. Just not seeing URI matched up against Nevada based on that, with Hurley gone.
The possibility of bringing teams like Nevada, UNLV and SDSU et al, to the Stu is an enticing prospect.
Would certainly be some marquee style games... even if they don't involve the P5/Big East or the AAC.
I would love an OOC schedule that features 1 or 2 of those, as well as every so often H&H's with Wichita State & UVA... plus whatever early season tournament we end up in.
Obviously the biggest thing is, we'd need to win some of those big time games.... but I'd be all for an OOC schedule like that.
the last time the Rams played at New Mexico we did not play the Lobos.
It was in the NCAAs.
Who else is left that went?
I never forget all the Southern folks getting off the plane and it was snowing.
If we have a game in New Mexico I'll have to work out a way to go. Been on my USA trip list for a while now. Chile verde on everything!
The one down side I see, is that they play very late, so would the away game be late at night for us to watch?
suck it up
take one for the team
