Continue reading...On a night when the VCU (8-2) offense struggled to ever really get going, the Rams defense was as relentless as ever.
VCU’s defense entered tonights game #14 in the country with 10.11 steals per game over 9 games. Tonight’s win over Missouri St. should have no problem catapulting them into the Top 10 range.
Issac Vann led the Rams with four of the teams 16 steals over 40 minutes of action tonight.
Vince Williams and De’Riante Jenkins both had 3 steals each.
The Bears turned the ball over 16 times in the first half alone—they ended the night with 26 total team turnovers.
VCU turned those 26 turnovers into 20 points.
Jenkins, who scored 10 points on the night, also tied with Marcus Santos-Silva for a team-high 6 rebounds.
The Rams had a tough time getting the ball to drop tonight as they shot 10-33 (30%) from two-point range and 9-23 (39%) from long range—an overall shooting night 19-56 for 33.9%.
