Any body interested in seeing Evans in a full game vs. a Power 5 school? I found the full game vs. Texas Tech..

    Evans in Blue #2

Evans dropped 27 pts..Rice lost 85-84 at Texas Tech...

It also features another former recruiting target Marquez-Fletcher Ellis who is now at Nevada..

koulechov -25 ...corey douglas also plays in this game..though not much...

Gives a much better feel for evans..

What a jip call!!!! livinston leans into evans and draws fouls inside the arc and gets the 3 pt foul call...so they won on FT's ...
    cheap call...

Evans as a sophomore last year...Evans was the point guard with the ball in the hands every possession for rice for 31 minutes..

    Strengths...

    He has unlimited range.
    really quick release.
    Great Ft shooter.
Jumps out of gym on rebounds...
    good ball handling.

    Weaknesses

    - sometimes tries to do too much..got caught several times driving into traffic and not kicking it out quick enough..
(hmm-maybe this is an experience things since all our pgs did the same thing..)
    - needs a little more strength to hold off stronger guards on defense
    - didn't play great defense this game..needed to set himself down and guard...not slap with his hands...

    plays i remembered

    - missed a backdoor cut dunk in the last minutes of the game..would have won it...
    - then he came back and hit a dagger 3 with a 6'8 forward contesting his shot in his face...

No, this was more a freak set of events and bad officiating at the waning seconds of the game like vcu-sfu.

And a guy coming onto our active roster next year, hey at least he will have no trouble fitting in! Will sure be nice to have a scoring PG again.

Anyone think we're going to have a problem at PG next year?

Remains to be seen, lots of people had Vann penciled in as the leading scorer this year.

Just a point of information (something I didn't know until someone told me): the word "jip" (or gyp) is short for gypsy and is a racist term suggesting that Roma people cannot be trusted because they are always trying to cheat you. It is an easy word to eliminate from your vocab. Just FYI.

I don't think any sentient person could have penciled in Vann to be our top scorer, not with Tillman and DJ on the team. 10.1 ppg and 4.1 rebounds is about what I expected. I did expect better shooting from 3, but I bet Vann did too. All in good time.

As for Evans' strengths and weaknesses, I can say that he has gotten stronger while waiting out the year, but I don't really think we can count on anyone becoming a defensive menace in this system. Didn't happen at Rice and hasn't come closer to happening this year. To be blunt, we are just a bad defensive team. You can tell watching us and the stats tell the story too. We just outscore people; it's what we do (when we win). Evans will help in that regard

I agree with everything you just said. One thing is sure. He will be our go to guy next year, he scored 12 of rice's last 15 pts to keep them in the game.

Another interesting observation. Rice did not press at all during the game against texas tech. They get all their steals in the half court on traps. They all played man 2 man, 3-2 zone and some form of pack line defense.

They all stayes inside the arc. Why can't we do that next season?
