Chris was a close friend. In fact, I was headed to Boston on work Monday and had planned on stoping by the hospital when I arrived. Big Lou called me this morning an broke the sad news.

Chris was a great baller. He was a better man.

He always had love for VCU in his heart and in fact tried a few times to join both the Coaching Staff and AD.

To say I am saddened is an understatement. My thoughts and prayers go out to Mona and his family.

#GoChris! You cannot be forgotten!

Many of you may forget Chris actually played AGAINST the Rams one night. Following graduation, Chris played with a traveling exhibition squad (Court Authority) that beat numerous Division 1 schools in the preseason. Court Authority took down the likes of UR, VMI and W&M but lost a tough game to the Rams at Franklin Street.

Wasn’t Larry Corker on team about same time?
But in regards to Chris, my condolences to his family. Way too young.

Do you mean Randy Corker who was there in the early 80s? I think 1981-1983. Chris Cheeks came around my senior year of 1987-88 and 1988-1989. He played with Stinnie for a year and Lionel Bacon, Vince Wilson, John Thompson, etc.
