VCU will be a veteran team this year not only in classification but in actual age. We will literally have a team of men vs. boys. Their ages and the amount of basketball they have played should prove invaluable in post season play.
This is the type of team that literally scares the heck out of P5 higher ranked teams. They are similar to the old guys in the Y who you as a youngster make have been more talented but you just couldn't over come their knowledge of the game and experience.
I really expect us to get into the second weekend. I am not predicting it but these guys could possibly get into the elite 8 and at that point its anyones tournament.
These guys are true vets and the young guys they leave behind should benefit a lot from the shared experience this year.
De'Riante -23* (actually 22 but will be 23 on11/12 after the 2nd game)
Crow is 22 (He'll be 23 in February)
MSS is 22
Mike'l is 22
Very strange first sentence, Seth. But otherwise OK
This has quietly become one of the elite mid-major programs in the country. The Rams have made nine of the last 11 NCAA Tournaments, and now they return seven of their top eight players from a team that went 16-2 in the Atlantic 10 and earned a No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament. It would be a big help if 6-2 senior point guard Marcus Evans can avoid the injury issues that have plagued him since he transferred from Rice two years ago. Regardless, this will team will be even deeper and older than it was a year ago, and given that the Rams were ranked seventh in the country in defensive efficiency per KenPom.com, that should make them formidable.
Last time we started the season Ranked (2013-14, #14)... we beat #25 UVA on Tuesday November 12th..... well we are ranked again to start this season & play #22 LSU on Wednesday November 13th.... what do you all think about handing LSU their first loss of the season in the STU?
This team is going to be straight beast this season.
Senior-led. Long, athletic, and versatile on the perimeter. Defensive-minded. If we can stay healthy and even approach average shooting from three, we will be very tough to beat. There’s really nothing not to like.
