Personally I would shoot higher if I was BC AD and follow VCU path (Capel and Smart) and find a young, hungry guy in his early 30s and give him 5 years

Schmidt is still a BC guy, regardless of how much he played. BC has not had a coach with a winning record since Al Skinner, and he was fired by BC. Since Skinner left in 2010, BC record in the ACC (including this year) is 50-138.

BC has to be the least attractive job in the ACC. It is a coaching "graveyard" in a pro sports town. BC would be lucky to get Mark Schmidt as their next head coach. If he can make St. Bonaventure a top tier program in the A-10 with the facilities and location he has to work with, he can surely get BC to the middle of the pack in the ACC, and that's about all BC could hope for in basketball.

What's your point, other than Mike Rhoades had to follow Will Wade and Will Wade benefitted from following Shaka Smart, and was only here two years. Plus, we all know now what type of coach Will Wade is.

As you can see above before Rhoades became coach at VCU in the last 11 years VCU won no less than 24 games. Since Rhoades has been there we have only won 24 games once. Each of the last 3 coaches before him won a NCAA tournament game with in the first or second year, Rhoades lost to UCF. For those of you that cant see the decline you have on blinders.

And just maybe there is somewhat of a decline because there is only one Shaka Smart out there.

I’m not gonna say we’re in decline but the stats are interesting. Then again it shows how impressive Grant, Shaka, and Wade were even if Wade is a total snake. Having said that if Rhoades leads us to the NCAA tourney he probably gets coach of the year again which I don’t believe any other VCU coach won that even once. Nevermind with this young of a team. I need this year and next to truly make a final judgement on Rhoades’s body of work here. Unless we crash this year and absolutely crash the first half of next.

And we all don't know how Will Wade teams would have turned out in years 3 and 4. Personally, I'll take what we are going through with Coach Rhoades over the sleaziness of Frank. Plus, Coach Rhoades was still cleaning up Frank's crap last year, which turned into a train wreck because of Frank's holdovers. Will Wade did not leave the VCU program in good shape like Capel, Grant and Smart did. If Will Wade was still here, VCU very possibly could be on NCAA probation right now.

I could be wrong but I think our recruiting class was Santos Silva, Sean Mobley, Kiir and Lavar Batts. Batts was the player of the year in NC as a senior. Not too shaby.

Batts never made it to VCU, and is now playing for UNC Asheville after riding the bench at NC State. Mobley ended up being a bust and transferred to UCF. Not sure where Kiir is now after he left LSU due to off the court issues. And then we all know the story regarding MSS and him transferring last year.

Let's also talk about some of Will Wade's other recruits.
Hamdy-Mohamed - Transferred to TCU
Nwankwo - Transferred to College of Southern Idaho, then to Kent State, then to Marion
Scissom - Transferred to JMU, then to Alabama A&M
Doughty - Transferred to Auburn due to university "issues" at VCU
Fraser - Transferred to Midland College, then to Detroit Mercy

We all know Wade could have very well gone outside the rules for that class and could have created real problems for us. The guy can recruit but he’s a snake. Having said that we do have winning expectations here and with the amount we invest in basketball it’s not wrong for us to expect success conference wise and hopefully in the NCAAs. Quite simply we invest in the basketball program significantly more than most of our programs so there’s definitely a problem if they have less success than our other programs

Sometimes you have to take a couple of steps backwards before moving forward. Especially if you are following someone like Will Wade. One of the first things you do when cleaning out a house is to take out the trash. Sometimes, when it relates to D1 basketball, that can take a couple of years.
