Well, here's the deal: the only time I've ever gotten copyright strikes on my channel was when I posted fairly recent NCAA games. Never had any issue with ESPN, CBS Sports, MASN, etc. But apparently the NCAA is out there like pit bulls to take down tournament content. Not sure how anybody else has been able to get around it. Fortunately the strikes only stick for around 6 months and they'll remove them if you've been a good boy (more than three strikes they'll shut you down).

In the past I may post something briefly and take it down before I get a strike. So I pretty much stay away from NCAA tournament content, which is unfortunate because they're the most compelling games.

I may have some of the other games you referenced. The mid 2000s was kinda a dark period for me as networks started making their broadcast so that it was difficult to record them on DVDs. Took awhile to get my current set up which has been working great for the time being.

Probably because the NCAA sells DVD's of all NCAA Tournament games. I have the 2007 Duke game and the 2011 VCU NCAA games against Purdue, Florida State and Kansas on DVD - all purchased from the NCAA. I also have the 1983 Championship game on DVD from the NCAA where NC State beat Houston 54-52.

Interesting tidbit regarding the 2007 game against Duke. The NCAA did not include the second half on their original DVD and later had to send out a second DVD to customers of the second half.

lol...well, that's another story (and frustration). Yeah, I also purchased the Duke, Pitt, and Northeastern games from the NCAA. I remember being ticked off that the Duke game was on two separate dvds. I wish they would offer to sell the old VCU tournament games from the 80s. I was told by the company that handled the dvds at the time for the NCAAs that they would eventually get around to it. Hasn't happened yet.

Final word on this then I'll let it go: 4 NCAAs and zero NITs vs 4 NCAAs and 1 NIT is the exact same to me.

I look back on the season after the final four. We had to replaced 4 of our top 5 rotation players and not only returned to the dance but won a first round game. We had a bunch of "reasons" to be content with an NIT that year but we had a coach who found a way to keep us in the national spotlight. I want us to return to that being the bar.

Peace.

Footnote: upon further reflection on the Evans discussion, 2015 didn't we lose our starting point guard (Weber) and proceeded to win the A-10 tournament and barely lose in OT to an Ohio State team with a guy good enough to be the 2nd pick in the NBA draft? Not sure if this is relevant to the discussion but sometimes a coach has to overcome stuff. Weber was arguable better defensively than Evans was offensively.
Fair enough on all things discussed.

You are right, we did lose a starting PG in 2015. We then proceeded to go 4-6 in our next 10 games, all in conference. Those losses included being swept by UR, a three-game losing streak, and losing a game at Davidson by 27. We finally righted the ship just in time for the A10 Tournament, which is a credit to Shaka, his staff, and the players. We are currently 2-2 without our PG this season, and we were 0-1 without Evans in 2019 (the loss to UCF, obviously). Is the Bri injury in 2015 relevant? Sure, it is. It is also relevant to point out that it took that staff about 10 games to get it figured out. Mike didn't have that much time to figure it out in 2019.

Peace.

Are you counting the game where Bri got hurt in that 4-6 and being swept by them?

If so, that game was pretty much over at the point when he went down. We were already going to lose.

Bri's different. It wasn't his team leading QB prowess that we missed. Treveon Captained that ship and we had others who could fill in, some even a better fit, on O.

The difference with Bri was his game changing D. Plus wasnt Treveon hurt during that period as well?

...and remember, we actually lost Weber. Evans played with a week off from the injury. What percentage you put him at is speculation but he played. And the fact that so many other rotation players performed horribly in that game (five players who played 10+ minutes shot .250 or worse) to blame that loss on Evans is a little too convenient in letting MR off the hook.

Evans played the UCF game tho? Played 26 minutes that game. Was he 100% not likely, but he played a decent amount of the game. The game we lost "without Evans" really was Rhode Island in the A10 Tournament. And we were leading at halftime despite losing Evans late in the first half.

Also, the fact we lost the Rhody game (which was on a Friday) and the UCF game wasn't until the next Friday... Mike & his staff had plenty of time to get the next guy ready (albeit not in game action).... incase Evans couldn't go, or couldn't play much.

Also this is not the first time MR has been without Ace.... remember last year? Where we didn't get him until Dec against Jacksonville State.... and we went 4-4 with out Ace, now granted we did lose to Wagner pretty bad, and lost to Chattanooga on a late game shot.... but we also beat Vandy on the road, Beat Syracuse on a neutral court & hung tough with #6 Baylor & #22 UConn (both games you could argue we could've/should've won anyway) without Ace. And the PG who stepped up to fill in for him... Jayden Nunn (who was a freshman last year) is still on the roster this year.

So while not having your starting PG on can certainly affect a team...... You have 12-13-14 other guys on the roster that gotta be ready to step up at a moments notice. Not saying all 12-14 guys gotta be able to play PG... but when one guy goes down... someone's gotta step up. Whether it's from a production stand point, or a leadership stand point.

Tre was already playing hurt.

In the three game losing streak our guys put up 63 (in double OT) 55 (at home) and 55 points. Yes, Bri was integral to our defense, but saying we didn't miss him on offense is just not accurate.

I think way too many posters on these boards want to blame Ace's injury on the team's performance vs. holding the other players accountable. This team shouldn't be nearly as Ace "dependent" as many posters suggest. Outside of Nunn and Johns, Jr., I don't really see any other players stepping up since Ace went down. DeLoach has been atrocious and lately Shriver couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. Watkins has also had his moments with 18 turnovers and the bench has not delivered for the most part. This team should not be a one trick pony based on all of the pre-season hype they have received.

My bad. I forgot for a moment that he went down in the first UR game. So, we were 4-5 in the next 9 games. Please forgive the error.

What pre-season hype did this squad receive? We were projected to finish 3rd in our conference in what the bracketologist predicted to be a two bid league.

RamNation message board hype. It was pretty much off the chart prior to the season starting, including which players would be leaving early for the NBA.

Again, agree to disagree.

I was at the game when he got hurt against Rhody up in D.C. and I was sitting behind the VCU bench in Columbia, SC for that UCF game. It was clear to everyone that he wasn't close to 100% for the NCAA Tournament game. So, yes, putting him at 75% is speculation on my part, but that 75% could even be too high. Come on, man, you are losing me if you can't admit the Evans injury had a major impact on all that VCU team did on both ends of the floor. It's just foolishness to suggest Evans injury was not the main reason we played poorly.
