That's basically how they fired him, he was on a year-to-year contract and they opted to not renew that contract. There were apparently a lot of issues back then, but I do know that the team was a hair away from being on academic probation by the NCAA and was set to lose the ability to play in postseason, as well as a couple of scholarship positions. Fortunately, the team's overall GPA skyrocketed after that. The case he brought up ended up going nowhere, problem was Ed and the rest of the AD couldn't exactly respond to it publicly because of confidentiality stuff...
