Shriver played 10 min. I suspect his mins will continue to go down. He may be fine against the bottom half of the A10. I guess.

MR doesn’t seem to mind dragging a boat anchor upstream. This year it looks like it’s Shriver.

The bench combined for 52 minutes played. Six points. Zero assists. Four turnovers. Seven fouls. Fats is worse than that?

He's looked very lost on the court at times, often out of position on both ends, though I thought he did pretty well his last time out. On the other hand, one way to improve that is game experience. That's the balance a coach has to manage: you want to win, but you want your young guys to get experience, too. I suspect as the OOC schedule gets a bit softer from now through year's end, Fats and Fermin will hopefully get more minutes and experience, making them potential contributors as we hit conference play. They both could use some good things to happen for them in games to get a confidence boost.

If Shriver isn't making shots, then he's a liability at this point. The upcoming OOC schedule through year's end offers up his best chance to regain some confidence and his shooting stroke.

I still think we’ll be very good in the A10
I've seen nothing that supports that (hope I am wrong). We will be playing on Thursday this year. Unless something magical happens and looking at our tough conference schedule, my prediction stands at 10-8.

Here's something to hang your hat on: with the exception of SLU, no other A10 team has distinguished themselves so far this season. Right now, it is SLU and every one else. UMass, Fordham, Duquesne are all paper tigers at this stage. Of the three UMass has the most potential, but we're as good as any other team in the A10 right now, except SLU.

Last year after 8 games, we were 4-4, with two bad home losses and two wins against Power 5 teams ('Cuse and Vandy), who finished 9th and 11th in their respective leagues. We sit 5-3 right now, with no bad losses and two wins against Power 5 teams (Pitt and Vandy), both of whom may end up in the bottom half of the ACC and SEC respectively, but that puts us in a little better spot than this time last season, I think.

Should we be discussing firing Rhoades currently? No. But if we’re not even gonna CONSIDER the idea of the discussion of it if that time comes well then no one should complain when players transfer. Players want to play. Players want to win. Players want to play in the NCAA.
Why not?

With regard to a coaching change, some of you need to check yourself at the door. Although I guess, with 48% of Americans living in a land of make believe full of wizards and fairies where if you sprinkle a little fairy dust on it, whatever you make up automatically becomes the all knowing truth, some of you believe if you say it enough times it will actually occur.

But say it with me, say it loud, say it proud, say it clear and say it like you mean it. Under no circumstances is our program at the level where we can afford to get rid of a 20+ win coach and know we can do better with someone else. The chances of it occurring are zip, zilch, nada, nope, never, not gonna happen, ain't gonna see it. Even P5 programs are wary of making a coaching change for fear of what might happen with a new coach........and we are not even at the level of a P5 program.

Maybe we ought to get a few Louisville fans to come speak with you guys.....maybe some Shaka era Texas fans need to invite you to a seminar on how getting rid of a 20+ win coach in favor of the latest flavor of the month turned out for them. Perhaps we can have some SLU fan come and chat with you guys about how the last decade has gone for them after a coaching change. We could get GMU fans to come talk about how their program has faired but they likely will encourage you to get rid of a 20+ in coach.

We are NOT a blue blood program where we can just hire anyone we choose who has a proven track record of winning at the highest level. So you guys need to STFU, leave the land of make believe and bring yourself back to reality. It doesn't matter how many times you say it, it ain't happening. So you might as well drop it.

Then get used to watching mediocre basketball at best.

Billups not getting any burn is head scratching. Weird for a top 100 local kid who chose VCU over high major programs is not getting 5-10 minutes a night to see what he can do. Especially if we're gonna lose to 4-4 Temple by 10.

On the topic of Mike Rhoades, the guy is fine. He was hired because he was part of the Shaka coaching tree and Ed wasn't ready when Will jumped ship. Mike is fine. McCarthy was also fine. I don't care if it's blasphemy to say it, I want Will Wade back lol

2 loses each to Dayton, SLU and Davidson and a spilt with Richmond gets you to 7 loses. Yes, SLU looks like class of the league so far. With Dayton JJ will foul out in the first half, their front court is simply a ton better. IF we can't guard the 3 (and the lane) any better than we did today, Davidson will tear us up. Have not seen UMASS, so not sure if they are paper tiger. GW looks better and UR is not as horrible as I thought they would be. Also dropping the usual 1-2 road games that you don't expect will always happen. Hopefully we can at least get splits with Dayton, SLU and Davidson and sweep UR. 14-4 should win the conference this year, so we need to steal those 4.

Just because he's top 100 doesn't mean he's ready to play and contribute. One would hope, but the ranking doesn't guarantee it. He's played 6 games and averaged a little over 4 minutes. The encouraging thing is that his most minutes came against Kennesaw State, and it was the best he's looked. With the OOC schedule getting softer for the rest of this season, I would think that booth he and Fermin will get more time and hopefully start to gain some confidence, which would allow them to contribute during conference play.
