Great now for your next act? You've been saying form Months? Months? Its only February how many months has it been since we played a decent team on the road? Only two decent teams have been Dayton, and URI. The others shouldn't have been trouble.
Exactly my point. Our struggles were obvious if you payed attention during the non conference games. We haven't been able to win outside of the Stu all year and struggled against some weak teams at home at times. Obviously things have gotten worse down the stretch but we've been hopeless for some time now.

I've only enjoyed watching VCU basketball for 20 years but this is as bad as I can recall us ever really playing. We don't show any heart and allow terrible teams to run the score up on us in ways that is just embarrassing. Enough already.

This is not on MR......the senior players have just given up and nothing is going to change their mind. They seem happy to just play out the rest of the season since winning means little and then try to do something at the tournament. DJ and Simms shooting 20% and Vann hardly taking any shots and Crow just doesn't seem like he is willing to ever shoot the ball.
Actually, a big part of the coach's job at this level is helping the players figure it out, and if they can't/won't, get players on the floor that will.

The crazy/sad thing is that most of us can agree that on paper we have the ability to beat anyone in this conference on a neutral court and so it’s hard to not go into Brooklyn with some degree of hope. I want to still believe that anything is possible even though it feels desperate and insane right now. Perhaps it’s our culture of winning over the last 10+ years. As my hero Michael Scott says, “No question about it I am ready to get hurt again.”

There are some people who, inexplicably, care about Mike’s salary. They don’t seem to understand that is the going rate for a VCU coach and has been since April 2011. Worrying about what someone makes is ridiculous. It’s what some crazy socialist like Bernie Sanders would do. LOL

I’ve thought that was possible the minute we lost to Mason. We cannot beat anyone without Evans, Douglas and Williams unless we play near perfect. I said this a week or so ago: as a team we are not that talented, particularly the upperclassmen. So, we have to play a certain way to win. We must play harder than the other team and we must convert the easy shots. We did one of those two things tonight.
But we were beating them when we were actively rebounding. We require extra possessions and we dont get them with turnovers so rebounds are not optional.
EVERYBODY on the team needs to make rebounding a priority.

So why does he keep playing them AND stating in post game saying he is standing by them?
im Confused by this response, please elaborate.

It is what it is at this point. The bitching and moaning is getting old. If anyone is expecting more than one win the rest of the way, you might want to adjust expectations. Hopefully a productive off season and new faces will bear some fruit next season. This one sure has been has been tough to stomach.

Because he is OUR Coach and many of us wanted him here. He has to be given a chance. We knew he wasn't Grant, SS, or even Frank. But we hoped he'd be as good or a little batter than Capel and he'd stay.

The hope was and is that given the Program Mike can get it done.

I think he deserves a chance. I think he can.
Well you keep hope alive while this guy takes a great basketball tradition and runs it into the ground.

And we aren’t hyper athletic. In fact, most teams have one or two guards who can smoke our defense with ease and consistency.
That’s the worst part about it. The offense worked in the CAA and would work now if we had insane athletes, but the A10 caught up to us. There’s just no excuse now not to have true bigs. The excuse during the HAVOC era was that our pressure wouldn’t allow us to have a stiff as the anchor of the press. We aren’t a strictly pressing team anymore, and we desperately need size inside to get physical and compete for off rebs. We cannot go into next season with an undersized MSS playing 5. He gives it his all, but a normal A10 (non down year) has athletes all across the board. Allowing MSS to have more room, which he would get at the 4, would actually free up shooters on kick outs from a potentially deadly MSS/Hyland pick and roll combo.

Defensively, size and effort have been our Achilles heels this year. Size can be recruited, but I can’t believe that a VCU team would have an issue with effort. It goes against everything this team stands for, and you can blame either the players or the coach...I really don’t care at this point. I know who will take the fall if it continues, and it won’t be the players.
