Our ball movement is biggest loss from Ace’s absence so we need to limit turnovers (<14), win the boards and 70+ FT%. We can do it. If so we get the W. Go Rams!

Vandy's invasion offers a real treat for VCU fans. Very few "big-name schools from power conferences" have come to The Stu over some 21 years. Texas, Oklahoma, LSU and 'Bama did because they were contractually obligated. Virginia did twice because Bennett liked Shaka. Georgia Tech came for unknown reasons, as did Texas A&M way back. Mississippi? It's not too often you get a Southeastern Conference school to play on "your court." Landing the Commodores ranks with Mr. Ed's better scheduling negotiations. Would like to see more of it.

My brother and nephew went to Tennessee. They like to scoff at the Vandy people that tend to pontificate about being an Ivy League school in the SEC. There is lots of academics hurting recruiting talk from them  Remind you of anyone?

Wow. limit turnovers, win guards, 70+ FT's. Genius. We gotta get this to Mike or at least the announcers immediately.

First only the Ivy League is the Ivy League. Second, Vandy is a heck of a good academic institution. Third, Tennessee has their share of scholars as well.

Their rivalry reminds me of UNC and Duke. Except Tennessee whips their butt in just about everything but academics and even that's close.

No one should ever, ever, use "higher academic standards" as an excuse for failure unless they have the proof ... by that I mean standardized test scores for the athletes involved, not for general student body. If the numbers were on the table, I would guess that the Vandy and UT test scores would be nearly identical among the eight players with most minutes. Vandy may have a brighter third string.

when ace?
I have no intel whatsoever on this. They keep things quiet in regards to injuries. I know that Ace tweeted that he wanted to continue to play with the fractured wrist. Ace is like that because he is a competitor. Maybe he will be back on Saturday against Temple? After Temple VCU basically plays cupcakes so maybe hold Ace out until a game or two before conference play? Not sure what they will choose to do but we need a healthy Ace for A10 play.
