I think it time to sit Shriver for a while. He has little value outside his jump shot and that isnt working. To date, he looks like a D II guy who is lost.

I hope that changes but right now he needs to sit.
I wouldn’t sit him entirely just 7 games in, but reduced minutes for sure. Maybe he can figure out

I know exactly what it means and again, I've never seen a player get a T for doing it until last night.
I may go look for the video(s) as I hadn't either but supposedly there have been three or four other instances of it being a T this year prior to last night

I am still about 7 pages of getting caught up with this thread. Running out of time and wanted to know if anyone has mentioned why our band leader, Ryan left the building about mid way through the game. Someone else led most of the 2nd half and Ryan was nowhere to be seen. Did anyone else notice this?
Oh man… let’s come up with something juicy….I left the building because 🤔

I didn’t leave the building. There are several reasons I do the things I do. Most of them measured and some reaction based. Some mature, some not mature.

The person up there I. My absence is John Hulley. He is my assistant and honestly a big part of why the band is doing quite well right now musically. He deserves a ton of credit and accolades. I’m very thankful he is on staff and all of you should be happy he’s agreed.

He and Duane have a lot to do with the success of this group. These are still primarily Duane’s players and they sound really good.

In the second half I like to get out and talk to the fans that want to chat with me. I like to show my appreciation to people because I really really do appreciate all of you.

When the game gets tight I make my way back and try to make sure we are making the right moves.

Last night was a bit longer and I was a bit miffed at some things internally. They were mostly on my end and just remember in my position it’s on based on being amped up and intense so sometimes to address it properly I need to decompress. That process is vital to just see the situation clearly.

Just know I have a very clear vision about what I want to see for the band and the game ebb & flow. It’s not always shared and that’s ok. I’m not always right. Hard to believe I know lol

Oh I know….I left the building to meet Jerry Stackhouse at the bar. The ejection was planned lol

Y’all have a great night

Thanks for the reply. I had someone seated next to me say they saw you walk out the door, but I suppose they could have meant the door to go out on the Broad Street concourse. I did not mean to infer something more onerous and again, thanks for clarifying.

Edit, love what you are doing. Glad you are back.

Oh I get it. I’m not overly sensitive…mostly. I just like poking the fun back lol

Honestly I appreciate the question. When people pay attention it’s because they care and for someone to notice means I have to understand my responsibilities maybe more than I do sometimes. Thanks again. If you ever have any questions about me or the band. Shoot ‘em at me. I’ll gladly answer.

With all your energy, I am not sure you were the right guy to meet with Jerry......and certainly not after that game :)

True, but how do you think our offense would have been if Maynor had gotten hurt during Joey's first or second season? Guys rarely show up ready to play the point. I can only think of two since I've been watching since 1977 - Sherod and Ace. Maynor probably was, but wasn't given the chance to show it.
Depends on who we play. Would a Maynor-less team barely beat Kennesaw State at home with 2nd year Joey at the point?

Shriver’s 3’s are often rushed, which is his biggest problem. Zeb has had some bad misses. His form looks pretty good, but his feet are often turned and not pointed at the basket. That will mess a shot up.
Which leads to a point I pondered. Playing against longer, quicker, better athletes does he need to have a quicker release than he needed against his former level competition? Maybe he's rushing his shot because he's not used having it contested like it is versus playing in the America East Conference? I don't know the answer, other than I'm pretty confident it has nothing to do with playing in NBA arenas as someone else theorized.

I understand that their is a lot at stake for these coaches. However, this guy acted like a complete fool during the game. No excuses. A leader is supposed to keep calm during times of difficulty. This steadies the troops.

I understand that sometime you get a T to fire up the troops but this was more than that. This was a total loss of control complete with F bombs and physical confrontation. This was inappropriate.

Again, I understand it as you give a man millions to coach a kids game and bad ish happens. Former pampered athletes who havent lived in the real world since say they were 17 -18 are going to have. tough time in their 40's-50's when facing real world problems.

I also understand the officiating from his perspective was trash. However, this is an away game at in a hostile arena with a team that protects its turf and fully expected to win. This type thing isnt unexpected. Hey have your guys play better. Have you guys play through.

I though the T was excessive. However, I also though it was getting a bit chippy. Refs, have to keep order and lets be clear refs rarely , if ever, favor VCU. It doesnt happen. We've been on the bad side of what we all believed was poor officiating it happens.

Finally, what bothers me the most isnt even his behavior as horrible and juvenile as it was. What bothered me is this man has no remorse. A classier person would have stated that they lost their cool and it shouldn't have happened. Not Stack. I remember his behavior in Philly when he had beef with Iverson which led to his trade. Seems like nothing changed. I hope the SEC sits his butt for a few games.

That won't happen
