The 2019 NCAA Division I men’s golf regional fields are being revealed Wednesday night on Golf Channel.
Eighty-one teams and 45 individuals will be selected to compete at one of six regional championship sites across the country.
The regional sites are: Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Wash.; Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif.; TPC Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet, S.C.; University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville, Ky.; University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga.; and University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas. Regionals will take place May 13-15.
The teams that win their respective Division I conference championships are given automatic spots in the regionals. A selection committee decides which other teams play in the regionals. The top teams in each regionals advance to the championship. In addition, the best player in each tournament from teams not qualified also advance to the next round as individual competitors.
It is a stroke play team competition, starting in 2009 the competition changed to a stroke play/match play competition with the top 8 teams after 54 holes of stroke play being seeded and concluding with an 8-team match play playoff. There is also an award for the lowest scoring individual competitor.
Next week is the VCU Invitational at CCV Tuckahoe course south of River Rd on S Gaskins.
It's Monday the 16th for the first two rounds
and Tuesday the 17th for the 3rd round.
