The Offseason

Agree that they probably don't care enough about the NIT, but if the NCAA sees this as a first step toward the power conferences making their own "big dance" then they might decide to draw the line early.
Nah, they are too slow to do that.....just look at football

I doubt anyone is excited for that or the NIT. Maybe they want a trip to Vegas. Always bet on black.
Some teams with new coaches or a team they believe is close, most players returning, and could use the work would be excited. Also, teams that have no history of post season also would be happy.

Heck we paid for a post season SS's first year and Norwood told me he did it just to get SS and team some work.

I think some of these TV contracts with the P5 are perhaps a bit over the top in terms of what the networks can actually pay. There is only so much money these networks can charge for content. And I think we have reached that point for many customers. There is going to have to be some outside the box thinking to be able to raise enough revenue to meet these obligations. I think we are likely to see some networks go under or thru re-organization. There is a breaking point for what people will pay for content.
I am not sure, the networks need content. Conferences especially P5 conference provide said content. Its all about the number of people who will tune in, stream, subscribe, purchase stuff and their are a great deal of people in the world. That is why they continue to try to develop overseas markets.

The money is there.

Would the players play in it? With the easy transfer and NIL would a player risk injury by playing possibly screwing himself out of a NIL deal the following year?
That's likely a question best determined on a CBC basis. Remember Larry didnt play in our post season. Now whether that was a LS decision, a SS decision or both who knows.

I think the key thing to watch here is the payout amounts FOX is willing to pay these P4 schools to come to Vegas. I'm betting that it will be considerably more than what the NIT pays out. Plus, these schools are basically under contract with FOX, and one BIG AD has already stated FOX controlled BIG expansion this last go around. Without those P4 schools, the NIT becomes the CBIT and I can see the NCAA cutting their financial losses as the ESPN/NIT money will dry up if the NIT becomes a mid-major tournament.

This...did not happen.

Larry played in all five CBI games in 2009-10 and averaged 13.2 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game. He was second on the team in scoring and led the team in rebounds, blocks and steals.

2023-24 mini plans are now available, and it looks like they've made some changes. Previously they sold two plans, and there wasn't much (if any) overlap. I always figured I'd buy them both if I ever chose to not get season tickets. This year there are three plans, and the game against McNeese St. is included in all of them. Other than that, it looks like you could buy all three and see nine games this season for $305. You would, in that case, have three tickets to the McNeese St. game. I guess you could try to sell the extras, but I'm not sure the demand will be really high.

Thanks. I thought Larry sat out and Jamie took over. I stand corrected.

I remember Larry playing a more diminished role (despite being the best player on the floor) the further along we went in the CBI.
Thanks again I was dead wrong with his participation. Those games were the only one where I didnt see VCU in the post season since Capel. I really thought he didnt play and Jamie took his spot.

Maybe as you state he time was diminished and Jamie got more minutes. In any event, I appreciate the correction.

Larry played 24, 26, 31 and 29 minutes in the first four games, respectively (consistent with his season average of 26.9 minutes per game), and played 18 in the final game at Saint Louis because of foul trouble. In the first game of the championship best-of-three against Saint Louis, he scored 20 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked three shots in 29 minutes. The game before that he had 18, 8 and 3 in 31 minutes against Boston.

It's true that Jamie Skeen did emerge in the CBI -- he averaged 12.2 points and 5.2 rebounds in those five games, but it wasn't Larry's minutes he took. It was T.J. Gwynn's and Kirill Pishchalnikov's.

Now that you say it, maybe it was Kirill who was sitting more. I just remember us not playing some bigs that would not be with us next year as much as we did in the season. I must have incorrectly assumed it was Larry.
