The Offseason

Latest of US News and World report ranking of national universities.
Virginia Commonwealth University gained 23 spots to No. 142, tying with the University of Cincinnati, Loyola University Chicago, Oregon State University and others.
Nice bump for VCU and well deserved. I doubt the people in Norfolk will be happy as they came in at #280. Of course they always contend the rankings are both rigged and meaningless.

I did not follow that advice tonight. My person rule is that if someone gives you food, you eat a bunch of it. I’m still stuffed.
Both of us here are too, and River City Roll's food is really GOOD, too.
Hmmm, I forgot to eat. I drank beer though.
Man, that grub was AWESOME! And you've trimmed down too, you look great!
We're both dry so no drinks for us tonight, but that food was a GIVEN for us both.

Among other things, I did hear tonight for fans to be patient. I heard frustration about scheduling and coach will tug at some strings for next year's scheduling. Teams just don't wanna play us. I heard that Max wasn't a great player when he first got on board with UState. That changed.

Tonight at the name check in, I attempted to check Kat and I in as "Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell". No BS, they started checking the list for those names. Then I told him, just kidding, they started laughing, I told them our real names and he asked, "are you sure?"

The good news for the Rams is that they still have a loaded backcourt without Bamisile. Coach Odom was able to bring with him two starters from the Utah State squad that made the NCAA Tournament in Max Shulga and Sean Bairstow, both of whom were double-digit scorers. Jason Nelson was a starter as a freshman at Richmond and could start for VCU as well. Zeb Jackson and Alphonzo Billups are back and the team also has international freshman, Michael Belle, joining as well.

Next: Each A-10 team's best transfer pickup this offseason
Assuming that Cal transfer Kuany Kuany is healthy and Louisville transfer Roosevelt Wheeler has an impact at center, VCU is going to have one of the top starting lineups in the Atlantic 10 this season. The loss of Bamisile hurts them from a depth perspective but there’s plenty of enough firepower for them to be a contender in league play.

I like everything that is happening with the entire department now. I'm sorry we lost Bryan and Danny, but the overall I feel I get from RO, the MBB staff, Ed, Todd McFarlane and even the existing folks is the most welcoming and comfortable its been in a long time. Plus we got @TTL PKG back. I am looking forward to this season.

We've upgraded in a lot of ways this year. I think the energy will be back in a big way this season.
