Some of yall know we are fulltime feral caretakers here not far from The Siegel Center. We going on year 7 of giving formerly ignored kitties the perfect home. Nothing I can write short of a book can properly describe how different their lives are now that someone cares about who they are. There are at least 4 former mommas here at Havoc Feral Colony. One of them long ago spent two weeks at RACC with her kittens (so she could nurse them without RACC having to do it by hand, and raise a heathier kitten as breastmilk is by far superior). I don't know what they did with her there but once she came back here having raised then had her kittens adopted out, we opened the plastic and plexiglass hard cat carrier box and out she came, instantly was so incredibly grounded, calm, immediately started rubbing around kat's legs. I think she was just happy to be back where her real home is. She was "Mumma" then, and ever since, she's been the one out of the dozen here we caretake 24/7 who keeps the others grounded, the portrait of good behavior and trust, the good example for the others to follow. She truly leads by example. Every day, she too makes a big difference here. We could think of no one better to name her after, so, "Mumma Sophia" is who she is now.
