Our game against Dayton originally scheduled for Friday, May 14 has been postponed due to COVID-19 protocols.
No further decisions have been made related to the VCU-Dayton games on May 15 & 16.
This is BS. Dayton was probably looking for an excuse to cancel to avoid the 4 game sweep. The Dayton baseball twitter account/athletics site is saying VCU had a player test positive. Not sure how this can even happen at this point with everyone on the team accessible to the vaccine for weeks now. The entire weekend series has now been cancelled.

It's possible that the person hadn't been vaccinated yet as the team might have offered the vaccine in phases so you don't have the potential of the entire team suffering from the side effects of the vaccine at the same time. It's also possible that they had been vaccinated and have not yet reached the full level of protection from it yet, and even if they have there is still a possibility to get the virus when you're fully vaccinated. With the Moderna and Pfizer you still have a ~5% chance of getting Covid, and with Johnson and Johnson ~33% chance once you've reached the full potential of the vaccine. Remember, the primary goal of the vaccine is to give your body the blueprints to fight the virus when you're exposed to it, but if you do get it it allows your body to rapidly attack it while mitigating severe complications from it, as well as helps prevent you from spreading it. For example, while J&J might be only 66.3% effective of preventing the virus, it is 85% effective in preventing a major infection that might require hospitalization. Oh, and it is possible that the variant of the virus that the person was exposed to was more resistant to the version of the vaccine that the person was given. The Dayton baseball twitter account/athletics site is saying VCU had a player test positive. Sarcasm. Don't take everything so seriously. How is it BS if VCU had a player test positive? Why is any student athlete testing positive at this stage in the COVID vaccine race? Anyone can walk up and get a vaccine at this point without even having an appointment.
If anything, this benefits VCU. It basically gives them the #1 seed of the A-10 Tournament, which is played at the #1 seed's field.
Finally some love from the media. #28
