VCU Baseball 2022

So...St. Joe's did us ZERO favors and crapped the bed HARD losing all 3 games to Davidson (at home).....

Davidson has 3 home games to finish vs George Mason...who is fighting for seeding
And VCU finishes with 3 at home vs Fordham...who are pretty terrible

Davidson is 18-3
VCU is 16-5

Unless Mason does something AMAZING and wins a few while the Rams whomp the doo-doo brown Rams.....we're lookin at a #2 seed for the A10 tourney. Not the worst outcome based on how this season started. As always, it'll come down to pitching...

May 24-28

#2 seed plays the #7 seed (#1 seed has the bye).....7 seed could be anyone from the St. Joes/Fordham/Spiders/Dayton pile based on how they all finish.

Georgetown Tuesday and then the final 3 games at The Diamond

C'mon Rams...finish strong!!

I could be mistaken but I think the Rams would have to win 3 and Davidson would have to lose all 3 for us to get first seed (Davidson owns the head to head matchup 2-1). If Richmond makes the A10 tourney and wins out then I am going to vomit.

That may be the face that Phillies fans are making but having been to several games there if this had audio the Philly fan would be saying "$@#! God$!@# Phillies losing a mother$@!$#!*$ game to the Dodgers. Give me another God$@$& beer."

we are a collection of spirited rapscallions....and it's true, some of us even utter the occasional swear word. But goshdangit, we're passionate as we are patient

That was definitely a long one. Good win though against a decent Georgetown squad. Time to close out the season with a sweep of Fordham.

Yea, Georgetown really put up a fight....good to see the guys win a game that had little to no impact on their overall season at this point. Gotta love that grittiness and determination....

Also, as I predicted, Davidson falls HARD to a bottom tier ACC team in Duke who employed a "bullpen game" pitching strategy. Wildcats struck out a dozen times and were never really in it....11-2 loss

Very beatable team who had the fluffiest of schedules
Agree and think we are a better team than when we faced them earlier in the year. Oh and VCU r pi is 61....Davidson 64

Alright....I may have asked you this a couple of years ago but who would you name as your top 4-5 favorite Phillies (I know Schmidt is on that list)?

Also...your thoughts on Darren Daulton?

And the alleged cancer cluster around former Phillies?

Schmitty
JRoll
Bobby Abreu
Steve Carlton
Cole Hamels
(honorable mention to Bake McBride, of course...haha)
I also love the supporting "supporting actors" like Pete Rose, Bob Dernier, Manny Trillo, Pete Incaviglia, Jamie Moyer...

The cancer cluster story is sad because it probably is Veterans Stadium related...that place was a dump and a half AND the turf field was poorly made and maintained....throw in all the drugs/chew/alcohol and I think the slot machine of life trended that 'cancer way" for a bunch of these guys. Lenny Dykstra should be visiting a doctor weekly...

Loved Dutch as a player, was saddened by later obsession with numerology and the occult...had he lived longer I'm sure he'd be one of these wack-a-do Q people.....

Who's your team again?....O's?

no, Pirates...Schmidt (Loved this guy even though he played for the Phils), Rose (despite his later betting scandal), Steve Carlton (one of the best ever), Kruk-well because he was Kruk, Rollins...

Dutch was awesome. What a hardnosed player. He did get wack a doodle after baseball, Kruk at what point said he wasn't sure it was the same guy. Just wondering if this was more a result of something connected to his brain tumor in its early stages....The turf idea is interesting, but no grounds crew have it, but then again they were not consistently diving on the turf, fielding balls off of the turf.

Rams 17-1 tonight against Fordham. Doing what they should do against bad teams. Also were able to have some guys throw who have not put in as many innings this season.
Davidson locked up the top seed, so the margin for Rams error is a little more pronounced...it is what it is, and it seems like the guys are as locked in and strong as ever, Take care of Fordham and then go down south and announce your presence with authority!!

As for the Pirates? Dang man, that's a tough road to hoe....SOOOOooooo much positive history just in my lifetime (born in '74)
You had 2 distinct dynasties with the 70's We Are Family group and then the Jim Leyland Bons/Bonilla/VanSlyke/Drabek et all group....followed by a real dry spell....and then a little blip of hopefulness in 13/14/15...only to have the owners pull back from $$$ commitments and now you're back in perpetual rebuilding mode.....

Do you blame the Owner/GM for the current woes? Can the Pirates contend in the NL Central?

quid pro quo @DNB

who you got as your favorite Bucs?? Besides Cutch, obviously...I LOVED having him on the Phils (mostly)....poor guy couldn't catch a break with injuries but also just a really great guy and teammate.
