VCU (10-3, 3-1) picked up a much needed win on Wednesday afternoon on the road against George Washington (3-8, 2-2).
The Rams were looking for redemption after having their 7-game win streak snapped on Saturday at home by Rhode Island.
In what was a sloppy start, both teams combined for 11 turnovers in the first 5 minutes of play (VCU 4, GW 7). The Rams turned the Colonials over 14 times and scored 21 points off turnovers in the first half, making up for almost half of their points in the first 20 minutes of play.
After a few early lead changes, VCU eventually extended its lead by 7 at the 7:32 mark in the 1st half. GW would battle back to within 1, but would head into halftime trailing by 6 (VCU 41, GW 35). Bones Hyland led VCU in scoring in the 1st half with 10 points, and 4 steals.
Vince Williams opened up the 2nd half for VCU with a 3 pointer and a layup, extending a 10-0 run by the Rams and giving VCU an 11 point lead.
