This just in via the mothership:
RICHMOND, Va. – VCU will begin its 2020-21 men’s and women’s basketball seasons with a capacity of 1,000 inside the Stuart C. Siegel Center, Vice President and Director of Athletics Ed McLaughlin announced Wednesday.
The decision mirrors current guidelines set by the Commonwealth of Virginia for sporting events. If guidance from the Commonwealth changes throughout the 2020-21 season, VCU Athletics will adjust accordingly.
“We regret that we cannot have our usual full capacity to start the men’s basketball season,” McLaughlin said. “Our loyal, dedicated fans make our home games the best environment in college basketball and we will miss everyone who cannot attend in person. We will continue to work with all parties in an effort to maximize capacity beyond the current guidelines as the season progresses.”
VCU Athletics will limit seating to the arena bowl in a socially-distanced manner, with a buffer zone around the court to prevent contact between...

The key number here is 650. That's the cap on season ticket holders. Everyone better hope for most of the games being televised.

Most of the A10 games are nationally televised and the remainder of conference and OOC will probably be on ESPN+ this year. I bet that we will be able to watch almost all of the games via streaming/TV.

It really sucks that Verizon FiOS doesn’t carry CBSSN unless you pay a ton of money for their highest end package.

Weird. I don't believe I have the "highest end package" and I have it. I do have the sports package though.

Not me. I will be at home with my son watching on my huge TV.
Which is where every sensible person should be. In person games are one of, if not THE highlight of my life here in RVa. Not seeing games in person hurts my soul.. but I know the responsible approach. Irresponsibility is why we are where we are. It's as if what we are all seeing on TV is not seen by some eyes out there. It's a shame this is even being considered with the present surge, and advice (pleading) of medical professionals. We all know dam well what's going on out there. We can stop the transmission of this virus by choking it off, denying it the ability to proliferate- something that we could/should have done with more of the right amount of people in the right places speaking out from the very start. Regardless of our desire to return to normalcy, common sense says 1000 people gathering indoors in the Siegel Center is not the way to have that happen. I hope VCU reconsiders this. https://apnews.com/article/doctors-better-equipped-virus-surge-743c0448c3ada001d327d73a6f2ed9d7

The way forward, and the numbers are pretty clear, here.

I may have to take another look but last I saw I needed the Extreme HD package. I’ll check again.

I wish they'd just have them all on espn+ for everyone's well being especially right now when so many will be watching from home.

Much rather have them televised vs. streamed. The quality is much better on televised games fed directly through cable vs. hooking up a computer to the TV. Plus, that's why I pay for cable.

What kind of TV do you have? My TV has an ESPN+ App and it is on TV. These new fangled sets have all kinds of functions
I will watch the Black & Gold event on my TV. I will just go to the YouTube App.

Everyone will be a minimum of 6 feet apart, in masks. This is safer than things 90% of the public is doing right now. The entire athletic program exists off of basketball ticket sales. This is not even a question of the right move. It is the right move.

Through Comcast's sports package I get ESPN3 games, not ESPN+. Comcast also doesn't have the ACC Network.
