Do they still shoot a bunch of 3s? Yeah, that is a much tougher first game than the tune-up type game Charlotte would have been. VCU gets more games out of this one though.

Great way to see how our outside shooting has improved! Our biggest team in years and we do not lack experience with our size players. And yes, COVID is running rampant in the northern plains. It’s 2020, what could go wrong?

I don't know, shooting averages for the returning players aren't great. Replacing Merrill will be a big task and they're young. Could be nice a match up with a team who has has a similar roster composition as us. They're definitely big, but outside of Queta, not very hefty. Need to use our speed and quickness to our advantage.

My dad, a passionate WVU fan, died unexpectedly in September. My family would have loved that potential WVU/VCU matchup on Thanksgiving day. Seems very poetic to me. Hopefully the matchup happens.

Their starting center is a solid player. 7-0 250. 13 Pts 6 boards 2 blocks per game. Shot 62% from the field. 2nd team all conference. 1st team all tournament. They won the Mountain West Conference tourney beating San Diego State in the finals last March.

Queta is a force but has persistent knee issues. It's seriously hampered his career.

Odds of this tournament being played with 8 teams is probably less than 50%. If we're lucky, 4 teams will have all negative tests on gameday and one of them will be VCU.

They shot 33% from the arc last year with Merrill. They were 3rd in the nation in total assists. They have won 54 games the past 2 seasons. Well coached, disciplined team that shares the ball and rebounds well.

Utah State has 8 freshmen and a huge front line. Most of their team is from Eastern Europe.

The freshman are all like 35 years older with 6 kids each

Several teams are already there. Wichita State got there today and got their tests taken and some turned up positive.

Agreed on the well coached and share the ball, but Merrill shot 41%, everyone else was low 30s/upper 20s. It will be a contrast of styles, but if we can defend the 3 well and speed the game up I think it could be a good one.
