Coach Wade loves this university and his players. He is all-in for VCU!
Yesterday, I saw two tweets that stayed with me because I thought they were so cool. Coach Wade went to hang out with Torey Burston's Grammy :D

Yep, our coach spends time with a different player every single day. He eats a meal or he sits with their Grammy while he texts on his smartphone

The point of this thread is that Coach Wade is a one cool cat and I like it like that. That's the way it is, so stay the heck back cause we're about causin' hard times, for sucker teams.
I plan to post Will Wade news right here for many years to come. Ram it!!

Major bonus points: going to visit granny.

Minor point deduction: put down the phone, coach!

Hah! In the instagram pic, they were watching tv together or something...no phone. I don't know if that can be posted here or not though because I can't remember if Torey's instagram is private.

Edit: Tried it and it didn't work but the caption was sweet anyway:

"'Let's go hang with grammy for a little while. I've got to meet her!' I appreciate this man. My coach!"

And then just imagine the exact same picture with no cell phone

If you give me Torey's instagram user name and I will post it.

It is cool that he is doing that with a player, but think about this. He is doing this with a WALK-ON!!!! A guy that can hope to only get garbage time, think about that for a minute. The head coach of a successful D1 program is spending his time at a walk-on's "grammys" house. That tells you Wade is not a public Bull$hit artist, he's the real deal.

I have the same shoes as Wade except that mine are cooler. Black instead of gray and neon green instead of the white. I hope lunatics on this forum don't try to track me down based on my shoe description.

I have trust issues with coaches now because I feel like I've gone through all this Bu11$hit before. Pretty chill dude tho and gotta respect someone performing their job with utmost commitment and dedication. I'm not going to start predicting the future based on this.

There is nothing to predict for the future about this and it is not BS. It is Wade being Wade. He is invested in the lives of the players on the team. He was like that as an assistant coach when he used to go to classes with Melvin. He was like that at UTC when he would talk on the phone with Melvin's mom all the time. Now, as head coach he is still the same guy he has always been.

Old news is fun........

I enjoy reading about a very young Will Wade. We all know that when Coach Wade was tapped to be a assistant coach for VCU that he constructed varying presses that outsiders called Havoc (we know Havoc is more than full court pressing schemes)
We know that WW assessed and signed under the radar players like Reddic and Daniels to play for VCU. He even brought in Melvin at the last second.

At Harvard Coach Wade really did some incredible work with bringing in players and helping to develop their game.
Before Wade was brought in as a very young assistant coach at VCU the Harvard reports are/were eye opening.
--------------------------------
He spent the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons in Cambridge. Much like at VCU, he was Amaker’s first hire. The second year, the Crimson went 14-14, which was the first season of .500 or better ball for the program since 2001-02. Former Harvard star and NBA sensation Jeremy Lin, now of the Houston Rockets, remembers what is a common theme of those who talk about Wade.

“The one thing I’ll always remember about Coach Wade is that he outworked everybody else,” Lin stated. Every day he was the first one there and the last to leave. Sometimes he just didn’t leave…he would just sleep at the gym. Coach Wade is a perfect example of how hard work pays off."
----------------------------------
“He was very persistent and comes off immediately as a personal, great guy,” said freshman guard Oliver McNally, one of the players recruited by Wade last season. “He can make connections with all types of kids.”
-----------------------------------
“I think everyone had a good relationship with Coach,” Pusar said. “He was really in touch with the personality of the team. It helped us psychologically. When things were going good, he knew what to say, and when things were going bad, he knew what to say.”
-----------------------------------
“Obviously he’ll be missed,” Lin added. “He was an integral part of our basketball family.”
------------------------------------
Wade’s reputation was cemented prior to his arrival in Richmond. He served as an assistant to Tommy Amaker helping build the foundation to what has become one of the top programs in the country. As the program’s recruiting coordinator, he helped Amaker land one of the top 25 recruiting classes in the nation in 2008 and 2009 according to ESPN.com.
