Minutes should be available for Watkins to impact the program immediately. He is a tough and athletic forward that contributes on both ends. Competing against the best at the Nike Peach Jam in July, Watkins boosted his stock tremendously where he posted per-game averages of 13 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.8 steals, reflecting his ability to contribute in a variety of ways. Watkins becomes the third member of VCU's 2020 class. Next fall, he will join Ace Baldwin and Josh Banks in Richmond. Another versatile forward could compete the Rams' 2020 class as they remain in pursuit of Mikeal Brown-Jones, DJ Gordon and Obinna Anochili-Killen.

For those of you keeping score at home, the staff has beaten the following for recruits just this class: VA Tech (twice!), GTown, UConn, Maryland, Miami, Providence, Seton Hall (twice!), South Carolina, TCU, Georgia, Providence, WVa, and St Johns (among many others). Granted, their interests varied in intensity, but these were all legit offers to the kids we've snagged.

Pretty good, huh?

The VCU Staff is kicking butt in recruiting. Thanks for posting the great news this morning! That was like having a danish with my coffee.

Very impressive indeed. One of the most impressive things about this class to date is that each of these prospects were "first choice" recruits. You know you're rolling when your commitments were all priority targets. And it's far from over. Mike and his hard working class are just killing it right now. Great time to be a Ram. More to come!

Pet peeve: when media people says a "source" confirmed the commitment and the recruit posted the commitment on social media. Watkins posted at 7:13 a.m. and Evans posted at 7:29 a.m.

Welcome Jamir and family!
If you haven't totally understood it yet, you will find out that you made the right choice. Can't wait for you to run out on the floor at the start of your first VCU game. The VCU fans bring it like no others and you will physically feel what it's like to be a part of the Ramily. Welcome to the Ramily!
