Right now? More like ever. Surprising how things have changed from pitch forks and torches Shaka faced year 2.
Those “pitch forks” were from dumb poops who were spoiled by the 3 year stretch where we finished 1st in the CAA while AG was coach and thought Joey sucked at playing point guard despite leading the CAA in assists. Those people didn’t represent all of VCU fans.

I’m in the group of people that don’t want to talk about a potential conversation “right now” because its October and a month before the season and I’d rather talk about positive aspects of the program and my optimism for the upcoming season.

It doesn’t make my stance right or wrong, but that’s where I stand and I imagine others do too.
Yes, especially in a place that is supposed to be about welcoming a new player. Welcome Ty!

Then there were a lot of dumb poops on RN then.

Regardless I stand by what I said. Rhoades has gotten a longer leash than other coaches and some of that has been justified by what he’s dealt with and some of it is because he’s Rhoades. A randomly hired coach would not be getting the same pass.

You would never have survived the Sonny tenure.

Ed HIRED Rhoades. Whoever Ed hired was going to have a decent leash because that's typically what happens when an AD hires instead of inherits a coach. This is college athletics 101.

You honestly think he’s only getting a pass because Ed hired him? I didn’t say specifically Ed. I said a longer leash. I didn’t say with who. Sure Ed might be doing that because of hiring him but he gets a absolutely pass from many fans too simply because he’s a local guy and Shaka right hand man for so many years. If Ed hired a random coach he’d be under fire from the fans currently. Anyone saying other is full of 💩. But I love that certain posters just jumped to the conclusion I was talking about Ed and jump on when actually I’m talking about the fans tbh.

Don’t even try that. We’re light years pass those times and there isn’t a dang person in the fanbase and or this board that has any intention of being back to those times of being all over the place. That would be a disaster for the program. Guess what expectations have been raised. That’s what happens when a program is successful and a program pours money and resources in. People don’t donate to see us play in the NIT. They donate to see us make the NCAAs and hopefully go on a run. Soon as that standard slips to well ok every other year or then ok we’ll make it occasionally you lose donations, season tickets holders, sponsors etc.

I’m not advocating a change now. But some of you don’t want to even hear the possibly mentioned despite being deep into Rhoades’s tenure now.

I think there's some truth to that. I remember at the time arguing that Shaka lost the best player in school history and deserved some slack in his first season and there were folks here who didn't want to hear it. The ship was suppose to just keep sailing. I've given MR a long leash mainly because I think I tend to do that with all of our coaches. But I honestly feel we've entered the no excuse zone moving forward.

I honestly had that mindset prior to the 20-21 season. That was the first season where the complete roster was recruited by MR & the staff. 20-21 was a major success because we entered Selection Sunday essentially knowing we were an at-large team with a very good chance of avoiding the first four. Last year wasn't a colossal failure by any means, but sitting at Home Team watching VCU-Wake in the NIT while Richmond fans gathered to get ready to watch Richmond play in the Round of 32 was NOT fun. Not just because Richmond made the NCAAs, but I expect to watch VCU play in the NCAAs in March and Richmond being there and winning a game only poured more salt on the wound. I'm not surprised we missed the NCAAs last season, but I really hope last year was an exception, not the standard.

With that said, this is a new season and I'm optimistic about our roster. If we fall short of expectations (miss the NCAAs), then I would definitely call the season a disappointment. In the mean time, I am absolutely jonesing for some VCU bball.
