There probably is. The team has been struggling. They’ve also lost to some good teams (combine record of those 4 teams is 28-4). Fans also remember a struggling team last year getting it together and being 20 minutes from a national title.
Yeah I think the Heels will be fine. Also Bacot was out last game I think? The Bama game was wild. The fortunate thing about them is they will have tons of opportunities to right the ship in conference, where we don’t get that luxury these days.

A lot of fellow alums are getting phone calls from VCU Athletics asking them about purchasing ticket plans. That can’t be a good sign.

We definitely have ticket inventory but I think it's a great sign that they are working on selling through it.
I’ve got mixed emotions about our Athletics Department, but I agree this is definitely a smart move. They can’t change the past (dip in ticket sales), but they can take a better approach going forward. Prioritizing reaching out to people who might be emotionally invested in VCU is a good first step to sell available tickets.

I've been to 1 game this year and havent been to a donor event in years. It's not that I'm trying to punish the AD for a lesser program. It's just that I am busy and I find it less exciting each year. From a philanthropy perspective, I just dont feel it like I used to. Maybe that will change as they start to build the village. But I am more interested and engaged with some other areas right now that seem so much more important than a well funded 60-100 ranked program. I don't think I am the only one.
VCU/ED/RAF does not seem to understand that their most loyal long-time fans are aging and that priorities change. They lost my brothers and my CCM B&G donation by raising it $750 as well as season tickets. I got good seats in the first 10 rows in section 24 seats, for the Dayton, St. Louis and the ur games on stub-hub, (Vanderbilt section 23 row F) I don't understand why VCU is not selling them. Is VCU doing anything to replace these fans/Donors? The seating chart deters new smaller RAF donors IMO.

Are there any details about this?

Seriously. It’s college basketball. It comes in waves. Teams get really good then sometimes get really bad. We are a midmajor basketball school. I know it sucks we couldn’t keep a national brand going after Shaka, but we aren’t magic.

Louisville, NC state, Xavier, Temple….all programs that have waves of being good and really bad again.

Wichita state, SLU, Dayton, Davidson, Loyola-Chicago, Memphis- same story with them. We’re all above-average programs with off and on years. There are only a few elite programs what will always be good, and even those programs have questionable losses to smaller, less talented schools every single freaking day. It’s parity. It’s why college basketball is more exciting than football. Anything can happen in any game.

Temple beat a #16 Villanova squad this season. Richmond beat this Temple team but lost to William and Mary today.
#10 Indiana lost to Rutgers today.
Top 5 UVA only had a five point win over a 1-9 Florida State team today.
Davidson has been good this season and lost to Delaware today.
IT’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL! We are still a top mid-major team, but we haven’t been a consistent top 25 team in a really long time, so we need to stop acting like that’s the expectation around here.

And yes, it sucks and is worse than usual for us to not be a top-100 program, but we haven’t had a lot of opportunity this year and have had our best player out in the stretch of our most important games of the OOC schedule. It makes sense…

Rise up and do our best each and every game, but let’s not live in la-la-land.
Villanova is really bad, to the point that Temple’s win over them has little value.

There’s something funny hearing comments regarding Rhoade’s tenure like “We’re heading in the right direction.” or “You can see slow growth.”

That’s cool in year 2. Year 6 folks. Man I bet some former coaches wish people were that patient with them.
Frank Beamer teams won 37.5% of their games his first six years at VT.
