Bones Hyland - NBA Thread

We’ll it sure seemed that way when Denver couldn’t get squat in return for him.

While his leaving the bench during a game was likely a tipping point, I don’t think Denver trades him without there being other issues from their perspective.
Unless you know specific issues that are not public knowledge, while that could be the case, it is just as likely it was an incorrect management decision with an assist from an average at best coach.

I'd love to see a nugs-heat finals. Jimmy and Bam are great but Denver would take that series. Boston I'm not so sure.
100% is pretty harsh, but I think that’s probably close to that.
speculation incoming:
I'm 100% a Bones stan. Malone has a reputation of handling rookies poorly, although his most important roster pieces are homegrown and Braun is already a solid rotation piece so who's to say. I felt that Murray and KCPs public criticism of Bones was damaging. It was clear to me that Murray became fed up with Bones prior to the trade based on body language which is the opposite of how you'd want a mentor to be. Is that on Bones or Murray? Probably both. It was clearly mismanaged seeing as how Denver got scraps in exchange for a contributor on a playoff team.

Bones is in a better place now, but he might have made out like MPJ if he had taken his lumps and checked his ego. It's risky though, because Denver cycles its players pretty quickly and he needs PT to get that essential 2nd contract. He gets along with the Clippers except for occasionally butting heads with Plumlee who likely came in biased because of his relationship with current Nuggets players. He'll be able to develop better being under Kawhi & Westbrook compared to Murray too.

I don't play with drama. I don't entertain rumors. Speculation and assumption are cheap. I don't buy into narratives. If they exist to be learned, I enjoy being influenced by actual facts.

Unless you've spoken with Bones or an actual coach, all I'm hearing on this issue are distant mumbles.

The GM that drafted him left, the current FO had no skin in the game and Malone wanted a his guy in that role given the opportunity for a title…..everything else is window dressing.

You‘re one of the more dramatic posters in the history of this here website.
Just as you leaped at calling out what you saw as untrue, as did I. If that's "drama", it seems I'm not the only drama king round these parts, Wheat.

Jokic is just so, so good. Dude had a really tough first half for his standards, but comes back and just kills LA in the fourth quarter. Best passing big man in the history of the game. I know people here have varying opinions about Malone and Denver, but it really is a joy watching this guy play.

They're a lot of fun to watch. Jokic is flat out amazing, Gordon is surprisingly cerebral for a guy who's probably in the top 1% of athletes in the world, KCP and Brown are great supporting cast members. Murray's not my fav but he can flat out score. If they win it all I'll be entertained by how much George Karl will hate that Malone was the one who got carried to a title by a generational talent.

I’ve watched the NBA for quite a while now, and witnessing that darn near 7 foot tall chonky boi grab a rebound and effectively lead a fast break over and over again is one of the most bewildering and impressive things I’ve seen in sports.

This may have been asked before but...If Denver wins the NBA championship does Bones automatically get a ring or is the teams discretion?

The team has to vote. If enough team members decide he gets one he gets one. I'd say its up to Joker and Murray at the end of the day.

Well said. This was a personal and a personnel issue. Its between them. The fact that Denver is the favorite to win a chip doesnt validate nor detract from any decisions made unless some one has inside information.

There have been a multitude occurrences where an organization has screwed people over and thrived. There have also bee an multitude of times when the good guy lost. This isnt the movies.

Bottom line is unless you have the facts, opining on this one is well a waste of time.

We've all got better things to do. So lets get to it. Now let's all get back to the unreasonable bashing of Mike, Ace, oh and any poster you disagree with or agree with but simply dont like.

Go Rams!
