It won't be the same without the mold, horrible plumbing, and lack of air conditioning.

I know, they installed it literally the year after I lived there.Johnson had AC before the mold shut down.
That was the redeeming part. I lived on the 11th floor and loved the view. That was about the only thing I loved about the place.Good God was that place ever a pit. Great views facing the park and from the roof, though.
It was still that way in 2002.Johnson Hall was "Panty Raid Central" in early '70s. Actually the girls seemed to like it more than the guys, some of whom may still have their "trophies."
TBH I never came across a coed dorm in the mid 70’s that wasn’t.Johnson Hall was "Panty Raid Central" in early '70s. Actually the girls seemed to like it more than the guys, some of whom may still have their "trophies."
Geez, glad I didn't have to deal with that, seeing as I had the window open frequently due to the lack of AC.I have a friend who lived in Johnson Hall when he was at VCU. His son was a customer back when we had our food cart. Really kind, mild mannered and smart kid, like his father. He came up one day with a big wrap around his arm and shoulder, told us that he was up late one night and drinking and looking out the window, and come sunrise opened the window and was immediately ferociously attacked by a hawk that had set up shop outside his window on a certain ledge long well known for nesting. He had told his father about what he had happened describing the details of what could be seen from his view from his dorm room, and through this story and the dozens of stitches from the hawk attack, they both came to realize that his father had the very same room when he was a VCU.

My dorm was Chalkley House- long gone. Used to sit on the corner adjacent to the library and next to the Hibbs Hall. Just an old brown stone that at one time was reportedly a funeral homeYou poor slobs living in Johnson. My dorm (and my room, lower right with the porch)
806 and 808 had a running Risk game on Wednesday (?) nights.I lived next door in 808 W. Franklin (didn't have a bldg name when I lived there). Live on 1st floor on the left. Had a huge mirror and fireplace. had some great snowball fights with those living in the White House
