Zeb has been a part of college basketball for 4 years, but has really only played 2 years worth of college hoops. I'm convinced that there is a gear to him that we haven't seen. He's also a really good dude. I'm happy that he'll be back at VCU for another year!
This x 1000! I don't even recall him receiving any technicals in conference play last year tbh.
I remember when we beat Navy in Dec 2022, he bodied their big guy who was 6'6" on a good day and stared at him.
I thought to myself "Jalen, get your A$$ back on defense" haha. I don't believe we had...
I disagree. I believe Jalen really matured during conference play in 2022-2023. He drove me nuts as a freshman and in the non-con as a sophomore, but I believe he was a MAJOR reason why VCU won the A10 regular season & tournament titles.
I prefer to not live in the past when it comes to VCU hoops, but I would gladly welcome DeLo back! We really missed a guy who can play 4/5 this year with more experience and he was $$$ down the stretch in A10 play and in Brooklyn in 2023.
Yeah.... I thought 2K was a very solid G-Transfer snag. Very similar to Shriver. The big difference is that 22-23 VCU was in Year 6 of the MR tenure with a lot more continuity on the roster and an Ace at PG.
Keyshawn Hall quit on his team.
You can say Rose sucked all you want, but the dude didn't fudgeing quit on his team.
Wouldn't expect any worse from a guy who is a fan of a LOSER fudgeing basketball program.
Was Rose a miss by RO & this Staff? Yes.
Were Reco McCarter & Terrance Shannon misses by Shaka & his Staff? Yes.
Were PJ Byrd & Jimmy Nichols misses by MR & his Staff? Yes.
Look.... Rose was not good, but this isn't the first time in the history of collegiate athletics that a quality coach...
Ehhh.... if a coach knew he had an opportunity to bring in a player that is perceived as "definitely better" than the current player and they both play the same position, then I can easily see the conversation that I suggested taking place.
I have zero source from URs camp, but I imagine Mooney...
I've long expected that Max would go pro OR come back for his 5th college year at VCU. I never thought he'd transfer again. He's a starter here and it appears that he has a good reputation with RO & Staff.
Best of luck to Max. Hopefully he receives good feedback from the NBA Combine.
NOT a weird situation at all. Staff gets paid to put a roster together. I'm guessing that RO has known this was a likely outcome for Max for a while. Do what we can for the next 7-8 weeks and then we'll see if Max goes pro or comes back.
